SHOTS WERE fired at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, July 14, in the 5700 block of West Henderson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A woman reported that she was home when she heard loud noises and discovered that a bullet went through her front window and struck a wall and she recovered a spent shell from her dining room floor, according to police.
A man reported that the rear windows of his parked 2006 Mercury Mariner were shattered by gunfire, police said, and another resident reported that after he heard the gunshots he saw a dark-colored sport utility vehicle speed down the street, and officers recovered two additional spent bullet casings on scene, according to police.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, in the 5200 block of West Patterson Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired and recovered 11 spent 9mm bullet casings on the street and discovered that a resident’s gray Ford vehicle had bullet holes and that a resident’s home gas meter was struck by bullets, and fire department personnel responded to shut off the gas, according to police.
Shots were fired at about midnight Tuesday, July 9, in the 5200 block of West Eddy Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A resident reported that she heard gunshots that night and that at about 8 p.m. later that day she found six spent 9mm bullet casings in the alley, according to police.
SHOTS were fired during a domestic dispute at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, in the 5800 block of West Eddy Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A woman reported that she was sitting in her vehicle when a black Chrysler vehicle with tinted windows drove near and a window rolled down to reveal her ex-boyfriend holding a black handgun and he fired several gunshots at her before speeding away east on Eddy, and officers recovered two spent .40-caliber bullet casings on scene, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic with a light skin complexion, age 27, about 6-0 and 175 pounds, and bald.
A MAN WAS arrested following a domestic incident at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at a home in the 5100 block of West Melrose Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A woman reported that when her boyfriend returned home they started arguing and he allegedly struck her in the chest, re-aggravating rib injuries that he were caused during a prior domestic dispute and she said that she would contact police when the man replied "the police are not gonna make it over here" and allegedly pointed a gun at her, and that she ran out the door and he locked himself inside with her four daughters, according to police.
A SWAT team responded to the scene and the man surrendered without further incident, and the house was searched and a replica BB gun was recovered while the woman was transported to West Suburban Medical Center, Oak Park, for treatment, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Anthony Klimara Jr., age 31, of the 5100 block of West Melrose Street.
EMPLOYEES of Foundation Tavern & Grille, 5007 W. Irving Park Road, and the M&M Lubiana bar, 6100 W. Addison St., were cited for serving alcohol to underage patrons during a police sting operation that took place between 10:25 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
At about 10:25 a.m. officers gave an 18-year-old woman a $20 bill to attempt purchasing alcohol at the Foundation Tavern and saw that a worker served the 18-year-old a beer without asking her age or checking for identification, and the employee was cited, according to police.
At about 10:50 a.m. that same day, officers repeated the same operation with the 18-year-old woman at the M&M Lubiana bar and observed a worker serving her a beer without asking her age or checking for identification, and that the employee was also cited, police said.
FOUR MEN were arrested for allegedly occupying a stolen vehicle at about 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, in the 4600 block of North Leclaire Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers saw a black 2017 Ford F150 pickup truck cut off another vehicle as it turned left from Lawrence Avenue onto Avondale Avenue and saw the Ford run a stop sign at the intersection of Avondale and Leamington avenues, and they stopped the pickup truck with four male occupants on Leclaire Avenue, according to police. During the investigation officers discovered that the Ford was reported stolen on June 26 from Elgin, Ill., and all men were detained and arrested, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Jose D. Castillo, age 25, of the 3800 block of North Janssen Avenue, and the other suspects as Sixto J. Cortez, age 24, of the 1000 block of Oak Street, Elgin, Salvador Vital, age 26, of the 1600 block of Oakwood Avenue, Des Plaines, and Miguel A. Perez, age 25, of the 9900 block of Holly Lane, Des Plaines.
EMPLOYEES of Dever School, 3436 N. Osceola Ave., reported that five people broke in and vandalized a modular unit at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that when he went into a school modular unit he discovered that the hallway and three classrooms were broken into, the wires to the building’s alarm were pulled and that various pieces of furniture, a fire extinguisher, a television, two telephones, a projector system, a microwave, a radio and three refrigerators were damaged and a teacher’s laptop computer was missing, according to police. Surveillance camera footage showed that a male carrying a female on his back entered the building, followed by another female and two males who climbed the building roof a few minutes later, police said.
All five people were described as white.
THE OWNER of Panda Dry Cleaners, 5500 W. Lawrence Ave., reported that the business was burglarized between 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, and 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to work she discovered that the surveillance camera’s VCR system valued at $400 and a bag containing about $2,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A woman reported that her house in the 6700 block of North Jean Avenue was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, July 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear glass door was shattered and that a brick was found on the floor, and that 10 diamond and gold necklaces valued at $2,000 and 10 diamond and gold bracelets valued at $2,000 were missing, according to police.
The man was described as white with a fair complexion, age 30 to 40, about 6-0 and 200 pounds, with a short hairstyle, and wearing a black shirt and black pants.
A MAN REPORTED that he and a friend were threatened at gunpoint at about 3 p.m. Friday, July 12, in an alley in the 5600 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that he was sitting in his male friend’s 1999 Ford parked by Dunham Park, 4683 N. Melvina Ave., when three men in a gray Chrysler minivan and a black Ranger Rover sped past them and then turned back towards their direction and pursued them, and that they drove into an alley of Montrose to hide, according to police.
The 20-year-old reported that when they started to emerge the Ford back out of the alley they saw the men waiting by the mouth of the alley, and that his friend crashed the car into a utility pole while reversing away and they both ran away in opposite directions and hid until police arrived, police said.
All three men were described as white/Hispanic, 5-6 to 5-8, 150 to 170 pounds, and black haired.
A HANDGUN was recovered at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, by the parking lot of the Seafood City Supermarket, 5033 N. Elston Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that a large group of people with four vehicles were loitering, drinking and smoking in the rear parking lot and he called in police, who dispersed the crowd of approximately 10 males without incident, and after the group left the premises officers found a loaded 9mm handgun that was discarded in the grass behind a streetlight, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her house in the 6700 block of North Jean Avenue was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, July 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The woman reported that she found her neighbor’s dog wandering the streets and called the resident after discovering her rear door was open and the rear window screen was pushed up, and the resident reported that when she returned home she discovered that 25 gold rings valued at about $2,500, 10 gold chains valued at $1,000 and 10 pairs of gold earrings valued at $500 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5200 block of North Nagle Avenue was burglarized between 10 p.m. Saturday, July 13, and noon Sunday, July 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the side garage door was broken into, and that speakers valued at $6,200, keyboard pianos valued at $4,500, a music mixer device valued at $800, lighting equipment valued at $6,400, equipment stand valued at $2,300, microphones valued at $950, cables valued at $700, a music equalizer device valued at $400, a music player valued at $300, wireless headphones valued at $800 and a fog machine valued at $300 were missing, according to police.
