Local Crime from 16th District 8-6-14
WITNESSES reported that a man shot a gun at a home in the 5200 block of West Henderson Street at about 7:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Responding officers discovered a window with three bullet holes in the glass and one in the frame, according to police. Witnesses reported that they had heard the shots and saw a man put a gun in his waistband and flee in a vehicle, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, in the 5600 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 37-year-old woman reported that a man struck her shoulder, knocked her to the ground and took her cell phone valued at $600, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, in the 4800 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 75-year-old woman reported that someone approached from behind and took her bag containing identification and her cell phone, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the 5600 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 62-year-old woman reported that a man rode up on a bicycle and took her necklace, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was shot with a BB pellet at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, in the 7200 block of West Peterson Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old woman reported that she felt a sharp pain in her wrist and saw blood, according to police. The woman was treated at Lutheran General Hospital, police said.
A MAN AND a woman were arrested on assault charges following an incident at about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, in the 4900 block of West School Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Two men Peoples Gas workers reported that a man pointed a gun at them and threatened to shoot them, according to police. The man told officers that he confronted the men with a pipe and not a gun because they were making too much noise in the morning, and he was placed into custody, police said.
Officers searched the man’s home based on a consent to search and also arrested a woman because she was interfering with the investigation, according to police. Officers found 27 grams of a substance suspected of being marijuana, a .22 caliber handgun and ammunition in the home, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Omar U. Lopez, age 23, and Leylani D. Padilla, age 18, of the 4900 block of West School Street.
TWO MEN were arrested on drug and weapons charges at about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at their home in the 6300 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers conducted a search warrant and placed the men into custody after they found 76 grams of a substance suspected of being cocaine, a .38 caliber handgun, two 9mm handguns, ammunition, a Kevlar vest and three digital scales, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Christopher Roman, age 24, and Steven Roman, age 25, both of the Addison Street address.
THE OWNER of the Edison Park Auto Spa, 6649 N. Oliphant Ave., reported that the business was burglarized between 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, and 11 p.m. Thursday, July 31, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he uses the site to store equipment for his snow-clearing business and that he discovered that a lock was broken and that nine snow blowers valued at $5,000, four drills valued at $2,000, six gasoline cans valued at $150, three generators valued at $2,500, six salt spreaders valued at $2,500, two sewage pumps valued at $1,500, 50 snow shovels valued at $1,500 and four light beams valued at $3,000 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6600 block of North Loron Avenue was burglarized between 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, and 2 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that a computer valued at $500, a cell phone valued at $200 and a purse containing $80 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3500 block of North Nordica Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been pried open and that electronics were missing, according to police.
