Local Crime from 17th District 1-11-20
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, in the 5200 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he met a man through Facebook to discuss hiring him for construction work on his apartment and that the man told him he had a gun and demanded money, police said. The man reported that he gave the man $1,000 in cash and the man fled southbound in a dark-colored vehicle, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 35 to 40, 5-6 to 5-8, 160 to 180 pounds, with a beard.
A WOMAN REPORTED that she was robbed at about 4:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the automated teller machine at Chase Bank, 3225 W Addison St., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old woman reported that a man approached her, put an unknown object to her right side and told her to withdraw $1,000 from the ATM, according to police. The woman reported that she withdrew the money and the man fled westbound on West Addison Street, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 38, 6-2 and 200 pounds, with black braided hair.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the 4300 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that he was walking when a man walked up behind him and pointed what appeared to be a handgun to the back of his head and demanded money and his phone, according to police. The man reported that he turned his head and saw what appeared to be a plastic handgun so he pushed the man to get away and the man fled eastbound on West Cullom Avenue, then northbound into the east alley at North Central Park Avenue, police said.
The man was described as black, age 17 to 19, 5-9 to 5-11, 155 and 165 pounds, and wearing a black ski mask, black shirt, black jeans and black gym shoes.
AN EMPLOYEE of the 7-Eleven store, 4401 N. Pulaski Road, reported that the business was robbed at gunpoint at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An employee reported that a man entered the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes, pointed a gun at him and demanded money, according to police. The employee reported that the man told him to kneel on the floor before fleeing with between $300 and $600 in cash and the cigarettes, police said.
The man was described as black and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
A MAN REPORTED that shots were fired at his vehicle at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the 3100 block of West Byron Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that he was driving his vehicle in the 3800 block of North Albany Avenue when a newer model silver Chevrolet Malibu with tinted windows began following him, according to police. The man reported that as he turned westbound onto West Byron Avenue he heard two gunshots and what sounded like metal being hit, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man broke into his home in the 3200 block of North Albany Avenue at about midnight Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he heard a noise by his front door and when he left his bedroom to investigate he saw that two men were standing in his living room, according to police. The man reported that he attempted to hide in his bedroom but one of the men forced open the door, pushed him man to the ground, pointed hunting knife at him and threatened to hurt him if he was not quiet, police said. The man reported that the men then bound his hands and feet with duct tape, demanded money, and took between $400 and $600 in cash and fled, according to police.
One of the men was described as white, age 50, 5-8 and 200 pounds with gray hair, and wearing a black skullcap and lime green reflective jacket. The other man was described as white, age 36 to 40, 5-6 and 180 pounds, and wearing a black skullcap, a black scarf and black jacket.
A WOMAN reported that a person broke into her home in the 4400 block of West Leland Avenue at about 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she heard a loud noise coming from the rear of her house and officers discovered that her rear door had been forced open, police said.
