Local Crime from 17th District 1-18-14

A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him and another fired a gun at him at about 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the 4700 block of West Peterson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 24-year-old man reported that a man rang his doorbell and said that he works for the city and had to check the gas meter, according to police. The resident said that when he refused to let the man inside, the man pulled on the screen door in an attempt to get inside and a second man ran up and fired a gun at him, police said.
The man reported that the bullet missed him and he shut the door, and a witness reported that he saw three men running east in the alley and then south on Kilpatrick to a white Ford vehicle, according to police Officers recovered one .45 caliber bullet casing on the ground near the home, police said.
One of the men was described as white/Hispanic, age 21, 5-7 and 140 pounds, and wearing a black scarf. A second man was described as white/Hispanic, age 26, 5-7 and 160 to 170 pounds, and wearing a black jacket, black pants and a yellow safety vest.

A MAN REPORTED that a man fired a gun at him in an apparent gang-related incident at about 2:05 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, in the 3000 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 24-year-old man reported that as he was trying to find a parking spot, a dark Honda Civic stopped next to him and four men wearing ski masks got out of the car and shouted gang slogans, and that one of them fired two shots in his direction, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that a man fired a gun at his car at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, in the 3300 block of West Ardmore Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 54-year-old man reported that following an argument about a parking spot, a man approached his car as he was driving away he fired a gun at him, shattering a rear window, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that a man entered his car and threatened him at about 6:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, in the 4000 block of North Keeler Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 34-year-old man reported that as he was stopped at a red light, a man entered the car through the passenger-side door, shouted and pointed a beer bottle at him, according to police. The man said that he accelerated the vehicle through the red light then braked, causing the man to hit his head and crack the windshield, police said. He said that he pushed the man out of his car and drove away, police said.

A MAN REPORTED on Jan. 7 that he was robbed at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, in the 4900 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported that two men pushed him to the ground, causing him to hit his head, and took his wallet containing $400, his cell phone and a backpack containing clothing, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.
One of the men was described as white/Hispanic, age 35 and 5-9 to 5-10, and wearing a black jacket and a black skullcap. The other man was described as white/Hispanic, age 19 and 5-8, and wearing a black jacket and a black skullcap.

A MAN AND A youth were arrested after they allegedly robbed a teenager at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the 4500 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 14-year-old teen reported that the two pushed him to the ground and took his cell phone, according to police. The suspects were arrested based on the description that was provided, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Erik J. Garcia, age 18, of the 900 block of North Harding Avenue, and a 16-year-old male.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, in the 3600 block of West Leland Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 44-year-old woman reported that two men punched her in the face and took her purse containing her keys, earrings and $1,250 in cash, according to police. The woman was treated a Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5400 block of North Sawyer Avenue was burglarized between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that jewelry and two laptop computers were missing, according to police.

A COUPLE reported that their home in the 6000 block of North Lawndale Avenue was burglarized between 2:40 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The residents reported that when they returned home they discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a three watches, a gold bracelet and $1,200 in cash were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Whipple Street was burglarized between 8:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was unlocked and that a Panasonic digital camera valued at $1,000, a box containing camera lenses valued at $3,000 and a laptop computer were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5700 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 5:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, and 2 p.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $500, six digital video discs valued at $600 and $800 in cash were missing, according to police.

A MAN WAS killed when a steel acrobatic ring struck him on the back of the head during a dance rehearsal at a warehouse at 5066 N. Kimberly Ave. at about 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man was identified by police as Marco-Antonio Gonzalez, age 22, of the 6900 block of West Summerdale Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
The warehouse was being used for dance rehearsals by Dance Works Chicago. A witness reported that Gonzalez was standing on the ring and holding onto the top and that the ring tipped over and stuck him on the back of the head as he fell, police said.
The owner of the warehouse was subletting the space to Dance Works and was cited for not having a business license, according to police.
