Local Crime from 17th District 1-31-15
AN EMPLOYEE of the 123 Car Wash, 3635 N. Kedzie Ave., reported that he was shot and robbed at about 6:55 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 44-year-old man reported that a former employee asked him for jobs for him for a friend who was waiting outside the business, according to police. The man said that the second man entered the business with a handgun and demanded money and that the other man urged the man to shoot him, police said.
The employee reported that as he was giving money to the men, the man fired his weapon three times, striking him in the chest and the left knee, according to police. He said that during a struggle he knocked the weapon out of the man’s hands, picked up the weapon and pointed it at the men as they fled, police said. The man was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was struck by a bullet at in the 4600 block of North Monticello Avenue at about 7:15 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that after he dropped off a passenger he heard three gunshots and that one of the bullets hit the rear side window of his car, according to police.
A TEENAGER was arrested after she allegedly stabbed a woman at about 11:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, in the 4600 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 21-year-old woman reported that during an argument, the teen pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the arm, according to police. As officers apprehended the suspect, they discovered two bags of marijuana and a pair of brass knuckles in her possession, police said.
The age of the suspect was not available.
A MAN REPORTED that a vehicle struck his car at about 11:15 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, while it was parked in the 4600 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that he was sitting inside of his car with a passenger and that a vehicle containing two men struck his car several times while the men flashed gang signs, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Subway restaurant, 3328 N. Milwaukee Ave., was robbed at about 9:15 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun at him and took $500 from the cash register, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked and robbed at about 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in the 4700 block of North Hamlin Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that four men approached him, attacked him and took his handbag, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to break into his home in the 5300 block of North Kildare Avenue at about 5:25 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that his teenage son saw a man try to force his way through the front door, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4500 block of North Kimball Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was unlocked and that a box containing jewelry valued at $1,000 was missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their home in the 4300 block of West Ainslie Street was burglarized between 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, and 4 a.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the basement door had been broken in and that $1,000 in jewelry was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a vacant home in the 3400 of North Kilpatrick Avenue was burglarized between 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, and 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he arrived at the home to do plumbing work he discovered that the rear basement door had been broken in and that approximately 380 feet of copper pipe had been removed from the home, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3800 block of West Eddy Street was burglarized between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a front window was open and that an HP computer valued at $2,500, an Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer valued at $3,000, jewelry valued at $7,200, an Asus Surface Pro tablet computer valued at $600, two pairs of headphones valued at $850 and an iPad were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3300 block of West Berteau Avenue was burglarized between 12:30 and 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that an iPad valued at $500, an iPhone valued at $400, various coins valued at $800, a Kodak 35mm camera and a pottery urn were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 5700 block of North Kimball Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been broken in and that five gold rings valued at $3,000 and $300 in cash were missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their apartment in the 4200 block of North Whipple Street was burglarized between 3 and 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the rear door had been broken in and that jewelry valued at $3,000, Michael Jordan gym shoes valued at $2,000, a set of house keys and a jar containing various coins were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two teenagers attempted to burglarize his home in the 3300 block of West Wilson Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he woke up and observed two teenage boys in his living room holding his Xbox video game system and that the two fled when he confronted them, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
TWO MEN were arrested after they allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the two men conceal three clothing items valued at $99 under their clothing and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Mauricio Lopez, age 23, of the 6400 block of North Artesian Avenue, and Juan Carlos Barreto-Lopez, age 33, of the 2900 block of West George Street.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the man take six clothing items valued at $288 into the fitting room and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Charles T. McRoberts of the 3300 block of West Foster Avenue.
TWO MEN were arrested following a traffic stop at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, in the 7000 block of North Kostner Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle that made an illegal left turn, and the driver and a passenger were arrested after the officer found a BB gun concealed in the driver’s waistband and discovered that a passenger was in possession of two Ritalin pills, according to police. The driver failed a sobriety test and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Aaron G. Guzzo, age 24, of the 9200 block of North Sayre Avenue, Morton Grove, and Mohammad F. Khan, age 19, of the 4400 block of Lunt Avenue, Lincolnwood.
