Local Crime from 17th District 10-1-2016
TWO MEN reported that they were robbed at about 11:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in the 4100 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The men, age 28 and 29, reported that they had posted three iPhones for sale on Facebook and that they agreed to meet a man to sell the phones, according to police. The men said that that two men got out of a car and one of them displayed a handgun at them, and struck one of them on the head and took the phones valued at $2,200 and their wallets containing $223, police said.
EMPLOYEES reported that the Latino Mart and Dollar store, 4300 N. Kimball Ave., was robbed at gunpoint at about 1:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employees reported that a man displayed a handgun and took $200 and 40 cartons of cigarettes, according to police.
EMPLOYEES reported that the Valumost Liquors store, 3263 N. Pulaski Road, was robbed at gunpoint at about 8:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employees reported that a man wearing a mask displayed a handgun and took $300, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man attempted to rob the U.S. Bank, 3515 W. Addison St., at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 46-year-old woman reported that a man handed her a note demanding money and that she read part of it and asked a co-worker for some tissue since because was ill, and then asked the man if he wanted a deposit or withdrawal slip and the man said "withdrawal" and left the bank, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was stolen at about midnight Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the 4600 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that as he was waiting for a CTA train to pass, a man displayed a knife and told him to get out of his vehicle and that a second man entered the back seat and took his cell phone and the two drove away in his 1996 Honda Accord, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in an alley in the 3900 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that three men approached him, one of them displayed a handgun and the other two men punched and kicked him and took a bracelet and a necklace valued at $2,600 and his house keys, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in the 3300 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that three men approached him and one of them displayed a handgun and took his cell phone valued at $400 and his wallet containing $200 and keys, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her purse was stolen at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the 3600 block of West Addison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 47-year-old woman reported that as she was waiting for a bus, a man took her purse containing credit cards, her social security card and $20, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her purse was stolen at about 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, in the 3400 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 50-year-old woman reported that a man took her purse containing two cell phones and $250, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that someone broke into her home in the 4100 block of North Richmond Street at about 3 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 55-year-old woman reported that someone opened her bedroom door and she called out to see if it was her daughter and that she then she heard a noise in the kitchen and a door closing, according to police. The woman said that a rear window had been pushed in and that drawers had been opened but that nothing appeared to be missing, police said.
A MAN AND a teenager were arrested after they allegedly threatened a man with guns at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in the 3200 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report of two people walking on Belmont with guns drawn attempting to enter the CTA Belmont Blue Line station placed a man into custody, while a youth who was with him fled but was caught, according to police. A 45-year-old man reported that as he was sleeping under a viaduct the teenager pointed a gun to his head while the man stood by, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Vaughn X. Sivels, age 19, of the 600 block of South Harvard Avenue, and a male 17-year-old.
A COUPLE reported that a man broke into their home in the 5600 block of North Saint Louis Avenue at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they woke up they saw a man standing near their bed and that he fled through the front door when they shouted, according to police. The couple reported that two cell phones valued at $1,100 were missing, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4600 block of North Monticello Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that a television set, an iPad, speakers, a headphone and $200 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3400 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue was burglarized at about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was unlocked and that a box containing rings was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4100 block of North Bernard Street was burglarized between 8:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a chain valued at $600, a watch valued at $350, two rings, a checkbook and documents were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
AN EMPLOYEE of Grossinger Autoplex, 6900 N. McCormick Blvd., reported that a car was stolen between noon Sept. 5 and 3:50 p.m. Sept. 21, according to Lincolnwood police.
The employee reported that during an inspection of the lot employees discovered that a 2017 Hyundai Sonata car valued at $22,075 was missing from an area hidden from security cameras and that a set of keys was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her car was burglarized between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, while it was parked in the 7000 block of North Keating Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that she discovered that a wallet, two perfume bottles, two pairs of sunglasses, a set of keys, paperwork and a MacBook projector and charger were missing, according to police. The woman said that she is unsure was the vehicle was locked, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was burglarized between 12 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, while it was parked in the 6900 block of North Kolmar Avenue, Friday, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he discovered that a pair of sunglasses valued at $150 and three car phone chargers were missing from the unlocked vehicle, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her car was burglarized between 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, and 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, while it was parked in the 6700 block of North Keating Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that she discovered that two pairs of sunglasses valued at $250, a pair of shoes valued at $800, a shirt valued at $200 and a cell phone charger valued at $50 were missing, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the man take clothing items valued at $380 into the fitting room and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Andre N. Needham, age 18, of the 11500 block of South Racine Avenue.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman put 64 clothing items valued at $1,382 in a shopping cart and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Tarshay G. Hubbard, age 20, of the 1600 block of West Juneway Terrace.
