Local Crime from 17th District 11-11-2016
EMPLOYEES reported that the Game Stop, 2754 W. Montrose Ave., was robbed at gunpoint at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 36-year-old employee reported that two men entered the store, displayed handguns, ordered him and another employee to the floor and tied the hands of one of them, according to police. The 36-year-old man reported that the first man pointed a gun at him and the, police said. The employees said that one of the men gave the other man his gun and tried to open a safe but failed, police said. The employees said that the men fled with 11 Play Station 4 video game consoles valued at about $3,300, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the 4800 block of North Bernard Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that he got out of his car to purchase tamales from a street vendor and that a man displayed a knife and took his cell phone, according to police.
THE OWNER of the Metro PCS store, 4397 N. Elston Ave., reported that the business was robbed at about 2:25 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 39-year-old man reported that three men entered the store and tried to take iPhones from the counter that were secured with a security device, according to police. The man said that one of the men had a gun in a holster and that he took a phone valued at $650 and the three fled in a vehicle, police said.
A MAN AND a woman reported that they were robbed at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the 4900 block of North Lawndale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old woman and the 23-year-old man reported that as they were sitting on a porch, a group of five men climbed over a fence and took their cell phones valued at $800, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man threatened her with at her at about 5:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, as she was driving in the 6200 block of North Tripp Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 48-year-old woman reported that a man followed her in a red Nissan and pointed a gun at her, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Jewel-Osco store, 4660 W. Irving Park Road, reported that a man threatened him with a knife at about 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the parking lot of the store, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old employee reported that he followed a woman and a man into the parking lot because the woman had shoplifted items and that the man threatened him with a knife before the two fled in a van, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the 3600 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old woman reported that a man shouted at her but she continued walking and that the man caught up to her and asked her the time it was, and that when she showed the man her phone he attempted to take it, according to police. The woman said that the man attempted to take her wallet from her pocket and that she slapped him and ran away, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the 4500 block of North Bernard Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 46-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the head six times and he fell to the ground, and that the man attempted to take his cell phone but fled when he couldn’t, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two men attempted to rob him at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the 4800 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported that two men demanded his keys and money and that when he refused they punched him in the body and fled, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4400 block of West Roscoe Street was burglarized between 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, and 12:20 a.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that an emerald valued at $4,000, jewelry valued at $2,000 and a bank containing $80 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4600 block of North Spaulding Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a window air conditioning unit had been pushed in and that $40 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two men broke into his home in the 3300 block of North Kilbourn Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that a security video shows that two men broke in through the back door and took a shotgun, a rifle, a handgun, a safe containing ammunition, earrings, eight chains and four rings, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4100 block of North Francisco Avenue was burglarized between noon and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that rings, three pairs of earrings, three necklaces and three bracelets were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3400 block of West Carmen Avenue was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a box with a dog’s ashes, two earrings, a ring and a pendant were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4700 block of North Albany Avenue was burglarized between 6:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a chain valued at $1,500, a bracelet valued at $600, two lotions and $100 in cash were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS charged with theft following an incident that occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Starbucks coffee shop, 4368 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
A 68-year-old customer reported that a man asked him for a cigarette and that when he did not respond, the man grabbed his tablet and headphones and ran out of the store, according to police. Customers chased the man and brought him back to the store, and the suspect was arrested by responding officers, police said.
Officers discovered that the suspect is on parole, and when they notified the Illinois Department of Corrections of his arrest the department asked for a copy of the case report, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as James Bernard Holmes, age 50, of the 7400 block of North Clark Street.
TWO TEENAGERS reported that parts were stolen from their bicycles between 6:30 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, while they were parked at a bicycle rack at the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The 15-year-old teens reported that they discovered that drop handle bars valued at $50 and two peddle straps valued at $25 were missing from one of the bikes and the a stem cap valued at $15 and a pedal strap valued at $21 were missing from the other, according to police.
