Local Crime from 16th District 11-29-17
A WOMAN reported that three men broke into her home in the 6300 block of North Ionia Avenue and attacked her at about 2:10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 86-year-old woman reported that she was home when three men forced her front door open and that one of them pushed her into the kitchen while the other two ransacked a spare bedroom, according to police. The woman reported that she exited the house and called police and that as one man came out of the house holding items and money another man pushed her down the porch stairs, and the men fled south on North Legett Avenue in a white Chevrolet Tahoe with a temporary Illinois license plate, police said.
The woman was treated at Resurrection Hospital for a finger bone protruding from her left hand as a result of the fall, police said.
The men were described as white/ Hispanic.
A MAN REPORTED that he was the victim of a scam at about 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, at his home in the 6500 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 88-year-old man reported that a man came to his door and said he needed to check the plumbing for a water company, that he let him into the home and they both went into the basement, and that after the man left he discovered that a coin collection and miscellaneous jewelry were missing, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 25 to 35, approximately 5-5 and 200 pounds, with medium-length black hair, an olive-colored complexion, and wearing a "NY" logo baseball cap and a black jacket.
A MAN REPORTED that he was the victim of a scam at about 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at his home in the 5000 block of West Balmoral Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 93-year-old man reported that a man rang his doorbell and said he needed to check for a gas leak, and told him to turn on the kitchen faucet, and when the man left he discovered that the bedroom was ransacked, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 35, approximately 6-0 and 200 pounds, and wearing a dirty white shirt.
A MAN REPORTED that he was threatened with a gun while driving at about 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, in the 5600 block of North Northwest Highway, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 57-year-old man reported that he was driving west on the Kennedy Expressway near the Lawrence Avenue ramp when he saw white Honda four-door car with an open hood racing a Jeep Cherokee, and that the Honda driver stopped racing and followed the man as he exited the highway at Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to police. The man reported that the Honda driver drove up and pointed a black handgun through the window, that he started driving to the 16th District station, and that before he entered the station the driver circled the street, exited his Honda and threw an unknown object at his vehicle, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of Dunkin’ Donuts, 5050 N Cicero Ave., reported that the business was robbed at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old employee reported that a man walked into the store, pointed a small semiautomatic handgun at him and demanded money, and that he gave the man $500 in cash from the register, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 21 to 27, 5-7 to 5-10 and 140-150 pounds, with a medium skin complexion, and wearing a grey hooded jacket, dark blue faded jeans, and white-and-black Jordan brand retro 11 sneakers.
A MAN REPORTED that a worker of the Gunnison Spa, 6338 W. Gunnison St. allegedly propositioned him for sexual favors for money at about 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home for sale in the 5100 block of North Mango Avenue was burglarized by between 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old man reported that his realtor informed him that multiple people broke into his home that was for sale and threw a party inside, according to police. The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the windows were covered by black garbage bags, that numerous liquor bottles and cups were scattered in the building, and that a refrigerator, a wine cooler, a washer, a dryer, and three mirrors all valued at $4,000 total were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 5700 block of North Mulligan Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was forced open and that a wedding ring valued at $4,000 and $30 in cash were missing, according to police.
A 65-year-old woman from the second-floor apartment in the same building reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was forced open and multiple drawers ransacked, and that two watches and three rings valued at $2,000 total and $600 in cash were missing, according to police.

THE OWNER of a Kobi Tools warehouse, 4100 N. Nashville Ave., reported that the business was burglarized between 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, and 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The owner, a 38-year-old man, reported that when a 46-year-old employee returned to the warehouse he discovered a front window shattered and the front door open, and that $2,600 in cash and 20 various grinders, tile cutters, blades and other power tools valued at about $10,000 were missing, according to police.
