Local Crime from 17th District 11-29-18

A TEENAGER WAS shot at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, in an alley of the 3700 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An 18-year-old man reported that he heard a loud noise and then saw that the 17-year-old teen was shot in the left rib cage and lying in the alley, according to police. The teen was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

A TOW TRUCK driver reported that his vehicle was damaged by bullets at about 4 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, in the 3700 block of West Addison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man reported that he was turning right from Hamlin Avenue onto Addison when a person in an older model Honda Accord driving behind him fired five to seven shots, striking his truck once in the front fender, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at gunpoint at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, in an alley of the 4000 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 25-year-old man reported that he was smoking a cigarette in the alley when two men approached, demanded his belongings and searched his pockets, and that when he tried to push their hands away one of the men pointed a black handgun at his chest and he handed over an iPhone valued at $300 before the men ran away, according to police.
The men were described as wearing all dark-colored clothing and black ski masks.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at gunpoint at about 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, in the 3200 block of West Ainslie Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he was walking up to his house when a male ran out from a nearby alley, pointed a black handgun and demanded his belongings, and took his wallet containing ID and credit cards before the male ran away through the same alley, according to police.
The male was described as black, age 15 to 20, 5-8 to 5-9, and wearing a hooded sweatshirt pulled over the face.

A TEENAGER reported that he was threatened at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, inside a BP gas station, 4000 W. Peterson Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 17-year-old male reported that he was in the gas station store buying snacks after school when a man approached him, asked his gang affiliation and threatened to retrieve his gun before the man left and entered a red Nissan driven by another man, according to police.
The teen reported that the man then reentered the store and made racially-charged comments while displaying a small black handgun with an extended magazine from his pocket, and that the man left and reentered the store a third time to stare him down before the man returned to the Nissan that drove away west on Peterson, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 19 to 20, about 5-10 and 160 pounds, with brown eyes, short brown hair, a light skin complexion, and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and beige Timberland boots.

A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly assaulting a man with a baton at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the 3200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers on patrol saw a 48-year-old man using a bicycle to shield himself from another man about to strike him with a wooden baton, and the armed man complied with officers’ demands to drop the baton and handed to officers a canister of chemical defense spray that was in his pocket, according to police. The 48-year-old reported that they were arguing about the bicycle, and the assailant was arrested on scene, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Jeffrey Pierchala, age 48, of the 1600 block of West Devon Avenue.

A WOMAN reported that a man tried to break into her apartment in the 3200 block of North Keating Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was with her roommate when they heard someone ring their doorbell multiple times, which they ignored, and that shortly after she saw a man trying to lift open a front window and she shut the window from inside and yelled at her roommate to call the police, and the man ran away, according to police.
The man was described as black with a dark complexion, approximately 5-10 and 160 pounds, and wearing a brown leather jacket with a black hood and blue jeans.

A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4100 block of West Cullom Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear kitchen door was open and that a black AR-15 rifle valued at $600, a rifle carrying bag containing a rifle scope valued at $300 and a lockbox with five magazines of ammunition were stolen, according to police.
