Local Crime from 17th District 2-16-19
A MAN WAS stabbed at about 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in the 4900 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 38-year-old reported that a man with a knife approached him and cut a 1-inch laceration into his right palm before running away, and an ambulance brought the man to Swedish Covenant Hospital in fair condition, according to police.
The man was described as Asian/Pacific Islander.
TWO WOMEN reported that they were threatened at gunpoint at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the 4000 block of North Sawyer Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Two women reported that they drove through a Chase Bank drive-thru ATM at 3204 W. Irving Park Road, and that a man in a black four-door sedan started following them from the bank, according to police. The women reported that they parked on Sawyer when the same man pulled into the parking spot behind them, leaned out of his window and pointed what appeared to be a handgun, and that she drove away and the man continued to follow until she lost the man, police said.
The man was described as white, with a light skin complexion and short black hair.
A MAN WAS arrested on gun charges following a traffic stop at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in the 4900 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers saw a black 2013 Infiniti sedan failing to stay in the lane on Pulaski and stopped the vehicle, and the driver was arrested after it was discovered that his driver’s license was suspended and he had no proof of insurance, according to police.
During a vehicle search the man allegedly admitted that there was a handgun in the center console and officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun that was unregistered, and he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Terrence Scott, age 37, of the 7600 block of South Michigan Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that she was attacked and crashed her vehicle in an apparent domestic-related incident at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in the 3700 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was driving with her boyfriend in a 2013 Volkswagen Golf north on Elston when they started arguing and the man grabbed at her and the steering wheel, causing her to crash into two parked vehicles, according to police.
The woman reported that they exited the car and the man dragged her to the ground and hit her in the face until two pedestrians approached and she was able to break free and run away, and authorities towed the crashed Volkswagen from the scene, police said.
A WOMAN WAS arrested for allegedly attacking police officers during an apparent domestic-related incident at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the 4300 block of North Troy Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that he wanted his ex-girlfriend to leave his home and as officers were escorting the woman away through the alley she allegedly shoved an officer, tried to punch two officers and threw gravel and rocks at an officers face, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Yasuyo Yamada, age 46, of the 5200 block of West Waveland Avenue.
A WOMAN REPORTED that two men tried to rob her at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, in the 4400 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 52-year-old woman reported that she was walking when two men pushed her to the ground and tried to take her bag, but that she screamed and the men ran away without proceeds, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that two men attempted to rob her at about 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in the 3600 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 56-year-old woman reported that two men tried to take her purse and that she fought back and was struck in the face and neck during the scuffle and the men fled without proceeds, according to police.
The men were described as black and age 20 to 23.
A MAN REPORTED that he was threatened at gunpoint at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the 3800 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he was driving when an older-model gray Acura sedan drove in front of him and forced him into the parking lane, and that the male passenger stepped out, shoved a piece of paper asking "are you gonna sign this paper?" to which he replied "I ain’t signing nothing," and that the man then pulled out a black gun and said he would kill him, and that he pulled out his cellphone and called 911 as the armed man returned to the Acura that drove away east, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 40 to 45, and wearing a red ski cap, a long black North Face jacket and a black hooded sweatshirt.
A WOMAN reported that a person attempted to break into her apartment in the 3200 block of North Central Park Avenue at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was in her bedroom when she heard someone attempting to open the bedroom door and she yelled "who’s there" and heard someone run away through the rear door, and she later discovered that a side window was unlocked, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4900 block of North Kedzie Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, and 6:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he woke up he discovered that a side kitchen window and the rear kitchen door had been opened and that a laptop computer, a wallet containing his driver’s license and his house and vehicle keys were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 3700 block of West Giddings Street was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been opened and that an engagement and wedding jewelry set with a band and a ring, two necklaces, and a can containing an unknown amount of quarters were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
AN EMPLOYEE of the Zeigler Buick/GMC of Lincolnwood dealership, 6900 N. McCormick Blvd., reported on Feb. 6 that a car was stolen from the dealership between Tuesday, Jan. 15, and noon Wednesday, Jan. 30, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that a black 2016 Nissan Maxima without license plates was parked in the lot east of the dealership showroom, and that on Jan. 30 a customer inquired about the Nissan and they discovered that it was missing from the premises, according to police.
The man reported that the dealership is still in possession of both sets of keys to the vehicle, police said.
