Local Crime from 17th District 2-25-17
A MAN REPORTED on Feb. 22 that he was robbed and that his vehicle was stolen at about 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, in the 3200 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 47-year-old man reported that when he opened the door to his Ford Explorer, two men demanded money and one of them struck him on the back with a baseball bat or a similar weapon and took his wallet, his cell phone and his keys and the two drove away in his vehicle, according to police.
THE OWNER of Pert Cleaners, 4213 W. Irving Park Road, reported that the business was robbed at about 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 83-year-old man reported that while he was in the back of the business a man walked behind the counter and attempted to open the cash register, according to police. The man saic that when he went to the front, the man said that he had a knife and took $60 from the register, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the 4700 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 60-year-old man reported that after he parked his car behind his home, two men approached him and one of them grabbed him and took a ring valued at $500, a ring valued at $350, a bracelet valued at $750, a watch valued at $700 and $120 in cash, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4100 block of West Eddy Street was burglarized between 7:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that jewelry valued at $125, power tools valued at $600 and an air compressor were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of North Kruger Avenue was burglarized between 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, and 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that watches, earrings and necklaces were missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their home in the 3500 block of North Kildare Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that a rear window was open and that a watch valued at $500, a watch valued at $1,400, a laptop computer valued at $1,000, a bongo set valued at $350 and two tablets valued at $600 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Whipple Street was burglarized between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that chains, two rings, a name plate, a necklace, a bracelet, earrings, a coin medal and $300 in cash were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
AN EMPLOYEE of the Grossinger Auto Group, 6747 N. Lincoln Ave., was arrested after he allegedly stole a tablet computer from another employee on Monday, Feb. 13, according to Lincolnwood police.
The manager reported that a service representative left his company-issued Microsoft Surface 3 tablet computer valued at $565 at his desk when he left for the day on Feb. 13 and that when he returned on Feb. 16 he discovered the tablet was missing, according to police. The manager reported that surveillance footage shows an employee take the tablet, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Taray Price, age 23, of the 1300 block of West 13th Street.
A MAN WAS charged with causing criminal damage to a vehicle at the Grossinger Auto Group, 6747 N. Lincoln Ave., following his arrest at about 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw a man attempt to pry off a hubcap from a 2015 Hyundai Accent with a screwdriver and that when he asked the man what he was doing he said that he was s checking to see if the hubcap would fit his Hyundai Elantra, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Heng S. Quek, age 74, of the 5200 block of North Bernard Street.
