Local Crime from 17th District 3-4-17
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly stabbed a man at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, in the 3500 block of West Addison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 19-year-old man and his 43-year-old father reported that they saw a man in the father’s car in the 3600 block of North Bernard Street, and the 19-year-old man reported that he chased the man to Addison Street, where the man punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground, according to police. The man’s father said that when he tried to help his son, the suspect stabbed him in the face with a screwdriver, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Eddie A. Lopez, age 27, of the 3300 block of North Ridgeway Avenue.
A MAN AND a woman reported that they were attacked at about 11:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Los Portrillos grocery store, 3624 W. Belmont Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man and the19-year-old woman reported that a group of three to five men approached them and asked the man’s gang affiliation, and that when the man said that he is not in a gang, the men followed them into the store and one of them truck the man on the head with a metal crate, according to police. The woman reported that when she tried to help her companion, one of the men cut her on her finger with a knife, police said.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 12:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in the 3500 block of West Addison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teen reported that a man punched him in the face and a second man displayed a handgun and took his backpack and his wallet containing identification cards, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in the 3600 block of West Belle Plaines Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 68-year-old man reported that a man knocked him to the ground, punched him in the face and the body and took his cell phone his wallet containing $20, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3600 block of West Eddy Street was burglarized before 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front and the rear doors were open and that jewelry box containing a gold ring valued at $3,000 and two pairs of earrings valued at $1,500 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his father was the victim of a scam at about 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at his home in the 6000 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 60-year-old man reported that his 83-year-old father told him that two men came to his home and said that they needed to check the water lines and the meter and he let into the house, according to police. The man said that his father told him that the men tried to open a safe and searched the home but that nothing appeared to be missing, police said.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS charged with a hit-and-run violation following his arrest at about 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in the 3700 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer responding to a report of a hit and run stopped a vehicle in the 6300 block of North Cicero Avenue, and the driver was arrested after the officer discovered that the front bumper of the vehicle was detached and had been placed inside the vehicle and the driver said that he left the scene of an accident because he does not have insurance, according to police. The driver was issued citations for operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage, improper registration and failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and two citations for leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Alexis Mosqueda, age 19, of the 2200 block of North Lawndale Avenue.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that she saw the man take two jackets valued at $400 into the fitting room and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jimmy Montes De Oca, age 35, of the 4800 block of North Central Park Avenue.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man shoplifted items from the Gamers World store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 3:10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, according to Lincolnwood police.
The employee reported that he observed a man take two board games valued at $30 and two board games valued at $100 and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police. The employee said that he chased the man and that he dropped the two of the games and to a bus waiting outside, police said.
