Local Crime from 17th District 4-20-19
SHOTS were fired at about 1 a.m. Sunday, April 14, in the 4500 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired and discovered three spent .380-caliber bullet casings on the street and viewed a surveillance camera that showed a white sedan with tinted windows traveling east on Sunnyside Avenue before slowing down and a person in the car appearing to fire gunshots at another person at the intersection of Sunnyside and Kimball avenues and speeding away east on Sunnyside, according to police. No injuries were reported, police said.
A MAN REPORTED on April 12 that a neighbor threatened him at gunpoint and vandalized his property in the 4600 block of North Kasson Avenue stemming from an ongoing dispute from November 2018, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that at about 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, that he had confronted a neighbor about littering on his property and harassing his tenants when the man pointed a handgun at him and said, "This is what happens to you when you go on my property," according to police.
Following the incident the man reported that he mounted a surveillance camera to his garage, but that the neighbor pulled it down with a tree-trimming hook at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, and that he delayed reporting the incidents to police because he was out of town, police said.
LINCOLNWOOD
THREE MEN were arrested for allegedly breaking into vehicles at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, April 14, at the Loeber Motors dealership, 4255 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers responded to an alarm at the dealership and surrounded the building because they were aware that a Chicago burglary ring has been targeting vehicles at car dealerships on Sundays, and officers saw two dealership vehicles that were turned on and four men ran away from the vehicles after officers activated their emergency lights, according to police.
After foot chases officers arrested three of the men near the dealership, while one man escaped and was last seen running away north through a construction site by Kildare and Touhy avenues, police said.
During the investigation police discovered that a non-dealership Dodge Charger reported stolen from an O’Hare Airport rental company was parked at the rear of the dealership, suspected to possibly be the burglars’ means of transportation to the dealership, and that a glass overhead door at the dealership was shattered with a rock, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Sorrell R. Towers, age 22, of the 5600 block of South Ada Street, Devon D. Johnson, age 28, of the 3600 block of West Cermak Road, and Daquan R. Blakney, age 19, of the 3000 block of West Lexington Street. The fourth man was described as black and wearing all-black clothing.
A WOMAN reported that property was stolen from outside her home in the 6400 block of North Trumbull Avenue between 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that her walker valued at $150 was stolen, and that she leaves the device outside of her home’s front entrance, according to police.
