Local Crime from 17th District 4-4-15

THREE MEN reported that two men fired shots at their vehicle in an apparent gang-related incident at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, March 29, near Kimball and Lawrence avenues, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The men, age 25, 29 and 35, reported that they work for a security firm and as they were conducting surveillance, a sport utility vehicle stopped next to their car and two men made gang gestures, according to police. The men said that they drove away and that the SUV followed them and the men fired shots at them, police said.
The men reported that the men followed them to the parking lot of McDonald’s, 3020 W. Sunnyside Ave. and continued shooting, and that a second vehicle containing four men also chased them until they drove to the police station, according to police.

A TAXICAB driver reported that he was robbed at about 2:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, in the 2900 block of West Waveland Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 62-year-old man reported that he picked up a man and a woman at Lincoln and Belmont avenues and when he dropped them off on Waveland, the man displayed a handgun and took his wallet containing $250 and two cell phones, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4 p.m. Sunday, March 29, in the 4100 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 58-year-old man reported that he received a call from a man who said he wanted to buy speakers that he was selling and that he met two men who punched him and took his wallet containing $80 in cash and two car speakers, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, in the 3500 block of West Addison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that he had an argument with four men while he was riding a bus and that when he got off the bus they followed him and struck him in the face, back and legs and took his wallet containing $267, a gift card and two prescriptions for medication, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3600 block of North Bernard Street was burglarized between 5:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Thursday, March 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the bedroom window was open and that two rings valued at $600 were missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN WAS charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident following his arrest at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers who responded to hit-and-run accident in the 6700 block of North Crawford Avenue received a description of a vehicle that had left the scene, according to police. Officers found the vehicle in the 6800 block of North Hamlin Avenue with heavy front damage and two men came out of a home as they were investigating, police said.
Officers smelled the odor of alcohol on one of the men, and he admitted that he was the driver who was involved in the accident, according to police. Officers also found a surveillance video from a gas station which showed the two men getting into the vehicle, police said.
The man was placed under arrested after he failed sobriety tests and a test showed that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.145, according to police. The man also was charged with driving on a suspended license and cited for failing to yield, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Susmit Thapa, age 19, of the 2700 block of West Wellington Avenue.

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, in the 7300 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a car that was speeding, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Michael Lee Butler, age 62, of the 800 block of Grey Avenue, Evanston.

A WOMAN was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following her arrest at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday, March 29, in the 7300 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a car that was weaving, and the driver was arrested after she failed sobriety tests, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Karen Seltzer-Guard, age 52, of the 1800 block of Greenwood Street, Evanston.

A COUPLE reported that their home in the 7300 block of North Lowell Avenue was burglarized between 3:50 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. Saturday, March 28, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man and the woman reported that when they returned home they discovered that the kitchen door had been forced open and that a safe containing $5,000 to $11,000 in cash and $100,000 worth of gold nuggets were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Mulan International store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that she saw the woman take a pair of shoes valued at $26.99 and leave the store without paying for them, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Symone E. Brooks, age 20, of the 9400 block of Bay Colony Drive, Des Plaines.
