Local Crime from 17th District 5-11-19

A MAN WAS shot at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, in the 3300 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 29-year-old woman reported that she was walking with her 23-year-old boyfriend when a blue minivan, possibly a Honda or Toyota, drove up with its door open and two women stepped out, and one of them held a brick and the other said, "You want to hit a woman right now?" and shot the man before the van drove away south on Central Park, according to police. The man was treated in unstable condition at Illinois Masonic Hospital, and officers recovered a spent bullet casing, a discarded live round and a fired bullet at the crime scene, police said.
The women were both described as white/Hispanic and age 20 to 25. One was further described as about 5-5 and 140 to 150 pounds, and the other as 5-5 to 5-7, 110 to 120 pounds, with black ponytail hair.

OFFICERS recovered a handgun, stolen items and burglary tools from a vehicle that crashed on the inbound ramp of the Kennedy Expressway in the 3200 block of North Kimball Avenue after a pursuit at about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of two men in a gray Mustang trying to break into vehicles in the 4000 block of West Waveland Avenue and saw a vehicle matching a description in the area of North Tripp and West Waveland avenues and pursued the car until it crashed on the expressway ramp, and a man ran away west from the Mustang toward Melrose Street, according to police.
The license plate was reported stolen from a different vehicle, and officers recovered a sawed-off catalytic converter and suspected burglary tools including a Sawzall, 25 saw blades, two saw batteries, a flashlight and two bright safety vests, as well as a .40-caliber handgun that was tossed out the vehicle, police said.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, 5-8 to 6-0 and about 130 pounds, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white gym shoes and a surgical mask.

A TEENAGER was arrested after allegedly robbing two men with a gun at about 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the 5500 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Two 20-year-old men reported that two teenage males with handguns in their waists approached and one male said "run out your pockets" and another said "whose bikes are these," and that they took a silver and black bicycle valued at $600, a blue-rimmed bicycle valued at $635 and $70 in cash before they biked away in separate directions through an alley, according to police.
Later that day police responded to a call of a suspicious male by the intersection of West Foster Avenue and North Pulaski Road, and officers recognized the teen as fitting a description from the prior robbery and arrested him after he was identified, according to police.
One suspect was identified by police as a 16-year-old male. The other male was described as black, age 16 to 18, about 5-5 and 120 pounds, with black hair.

A MAN REPORTED that he was stabbed at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday, May 5, outside of the El Caballo Loco restaurant, 4024 N. Kedzie Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that he was drinking at the establishment and was leaving with a woman when a man walked up and stabbed him in the left arm with a sharp object, and he was later transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital for treatment, according to police.
The assailant was described as white/Hispanic and about 5-4 and 125 pounds.

A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening a man at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday, May 2, after pulling on car handles in the parking lot of a Starbucks coffee shop, 4558 N. Kedzie Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that he saw a man going car-to-car pulling door handles and ordered him to stop, and that the man became irate, threw a cup of coffee and a glass bottle toward him and brandished a hammer, and officers arrested the man, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Christopher Round, age 30, of the 800 block of West Montrose Avenue.

A MAN RELATED that his apartment in the 4200 block of North Bernard Street was burglarized between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that an Xbox 1 video game console valued at $250, three Xbox video games valued at $120, and an Amazon-brand messenger bag valued at $30 and containing a Canadian passport were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4800 block of North Springfield Avenue was burglarized between 6:15 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. Friday, May 3, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that numerous bedrooms were ransacked and that four gold necklaces valued at $3,900, five gold bracelets valued at $3,700, a pair of gold earrings valued at $1,500, three gold rings valued at $650, two gold charms valued at $400 and a container with $500 comprised of $1 coins and $2 bills were missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN REPORTED that his van was stolen at about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the 6800 block of North Keeler Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he left the keys inside his parked white 2006 Chevrolet Express van as he installed a water heater and that when he returned to the driveway he discovered that the van containing $6,000 worth of various tools and his driver’s license was missing, according to police.

EMPLOYEES of the firm Transylvania Construction, 6430 N. Ridgeway Ave., reported that two work vehicles were vandalized between 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, and 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An employee reported that the vehicles were parked across the street from the office and that when she returned to work she discovered that a 2006 Dodge Sprinter van had a shattered front passenger side vent window, and another employee reported that when he went to use a 2012 Mercedes-Benz van he discovered the front passenger-side vent window was hanging off, according to police.

A COUPLE reported that a basketball hoop was stolen from their backyard in the 7000 block of North Tripp Avenue between noon Friday, May 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday, May 4, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
