A MAN WAS fatally wounded at about 12:25 a.m. Thursday, May 16, in the 4900 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs and the 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man was standing in an alley when a man inside of a passing red van fired shots at him, striking him twice in the abdomen, according to police. The man was transported in serious condition to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where he died from his wounds, police said. Detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide and they were questioning a person on May 16, according to police.
The man was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Dennis Sackmaster, age 41, of the 4900 block of North Kedzie Avenue.
A TEENAGER was shot at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the 3400 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teenager reported that he was walking home when a dark four-door vehicle drove up and a man wearing a ski mask in the rear passenger’s seat fired three shots, and that when he ran home he discovered he was shot in his right foot and he was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital for treatment, according to police.
A MAN WAS shot in an apparent gang-related incident at about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, in the 3200 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that he was waking with another man when a person in a black sport utility vehicle fired several shots at them, and they ran away and he discovered a bullet wound to his left foot and graze wound to his right hand and was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital, according to police.
Also, a woman reported that she was driving east on Belmont Avenue when she heard gunshots and her Nissan Murano’s front passenger window was also struck by a bullet and a man showed officers a surveillance video footage showing a man standing outside a black Dodge Nitro SUV on Drake and firing several shots before driving away west through a north alley of Belmont, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, about age 20, approximately 5-10 and 160 pounds, with black hair.
A MAN REPORTED that his house in the 3800 block of North Albany Avenue was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front deck window and front door were open and that a Lenovo-brand laptop computer valued at $400, a PlayStation 4 videogame console valued at $300, three PlayStation games valued at $120 and $50 worth of gift cards were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4900 block of North Whipple Street was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that her bedroom was ransacked and that a pearl set valued at $2,000, wedding bands valued at $2,000, two pairs of earrings valued at $700, a bracelet valued at $700, a necklace with a pendant valued at $600, a designer-brand watch and $1,000 worth of baby’s jewelry were missing, according to police.
A CONTRACTOR reported that a garage in the 4200 block of North Lawndale Avenue was burglarized between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, May 10, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he finished doing work on a house he discovered that a fence and the side garage door were broken and that his tile wet saw valued at $850 was missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN REPORTED that equipment was stolen from a construction site at 6850 N. McCormick Blvd. between 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 9, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that as he entered the building he left a circular gas-powered concrete saw valued at $800 and a yellow five-gallon diesel container valued at $30 on the loading dock by a parked work van and when he returned he discovered that the items were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two vehicles were burglarized between 5 p.m. Sunday, May 12, and 6 a.m. Monday, May 13, in the 6900 block of North Lamon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The 52-year-old man reported that when his family returned to their parked 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350 and their 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan they discovered that the vehicles were entered and ransacked, and that he was unsure if anything was missing at the time of the report, according to police.
