Local Crime from 17th District 5-26-18

A MAN REPORTED that two men fired handguns at him at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, May 20, in the 3500 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 33-year-old man reported that while he was waiting at a bus stop, a gray 4-door sedan stopped near him and that four men inside the vehicle made gang gestures at him and that the driver and a passenger pointed handguns at him, according to police.
The man reported that he ran away and he heard the sound of gunshots being fired before the men drove away westbound, police said.

A MAN WAS shot in an apparent gang-related incident at about 9:10 p.m. Sunday, May 20, in the 3200 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a man shot and an accident involving a stolen vehicle and discovered an abandoned stolen automobile that crashed, according to police. Witnesses led officers to an 18-year-old man who had been shot in his right arm and who was hiding behind a parked van in a parking lot in the 2900 block of North Pulaski Road, police said. The man reported that he was riding in the front passenger seat of a vehicle with an unknown number of occupants and that when they stopped at a traffic light, a white sport utility vehicle stopped next to them and its occupants made gang gestures at them, according to police.
The man reported that the front seat passenger of the sport utility vehicle fired gunshots into their vehicle and struck him in the right arm, and that when they drove away from the vehicle, they crashed their vehicle in the 2900 block of West Karlov Avenue, exited the vehicle and ran away, police said.
The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, according to police.

A MAN WAS shot at about 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, in the 3700 block of North Troy Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A witness reported that he heard multiple gunshots and looked outside his window and saw a man lying on the ground, and that gray vehicle drove up to the man and a man placed him on the backseat inside the vehicle before they drove away, according to police.
A second witness reported that after he saw a gray vehicle park in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store, 3800 N. Kedzie Ave., the driver exited the vehicle and ran away while another man exited the backseat and fell to the ground in the 3200 block of West Grace Street, police said.
Officers discovered a 23-year-old man lying on the ground who had a gunshot wound in his left chest and an abandoned gray 2007 Lexus automobile in the 7-Eleven parking lot, police said.
A third witness reported that while she was walking she heard three different clusters of gunshots before three men drove past her in a dark-colored Nissan automobile with a shattered rear window, and officers recovered the vehicle parked in the 3700 block of North Troy Street and discovered six shell casings and two residences that were damaged by bullets, according to police.
The man was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that an Uber driver attacked him at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, May 20, in the 3600 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 33-year-old man reported that while he was riding as a passenger in an Uber vehicle, he asked the driver to stop at a McDonald’s restaurant drive-through window, and that after the driver refused, he called the driver a derogatory name and the man dragged him out of the vehicle and punched him in the face, according to police.
The driver was described as white, age 40, 5-6 and 190 pounds with a bald hairstyle, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE of the Sally Beauty Supply store, 2925 W. Addison St., reported that a man robbed the business at gunpoint at about 9:20 a.m. Saturday, May 19, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store, started to talk to her and then pointed a black handgun at her, walked behind the cash register and said, "Let me make this easy for you, I don’t want to shoot you, open the register and give me the money," according to police. The employee reported that the man took $800 in cash from the registers and then ordered her to a back room of the store before he locked the front door of the business, began to search the backroom for more money and then fled, police said.
The man was described as white, age 40, 6-0 and 180 pounds, and wearing a black hooded jacket and black sweatpants.

A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 3200 block of West Wilson Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a laptop computer valued at $1,000 was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4900 block of North Spaulding Avenue was burglarized between 9 p.m. Sunday, May 20, and 11:45 p.m. Monday, May 21, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a window had been forced opened and that a laptop computer valued at $1,100 and a cellphone charger valued at $20 were missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly being in possession of stolen items at about 9 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in the parking lot of the Lowe’s Home Improvement store, 3601 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers responded to a call of a man fleeing with a television set into the rear of the Lowe’s store from a Walmart store, 3626 W. Touhy Ave., and officers saw a U-Haul truck driving in the rear of Lowe’s and a man with the television set approached the truck and ran away after seeing them, according to police.
Officers discovered that the man in the U-Haul had an active arrest warrant for retail theft by the North Riverside Police Department, and searched the truck and found a package of socks and 36 T-shirts valued at about $940, a pair of sweatpants valued at $35 and two brand-name cologne boxes valued at about $230, all with security tags, and the man was arrested and later turned over to North Riverside Police, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Darrell Keller, age 33, of the 8000 block of S. South Shore Drive.
