Local Crime from 17th District 5-30-18
A 17-YEAR-OLD teenager was shot following an incident that occurred at about 11:40 p.m. Friday, June 1, in the 3500 block of North Albany Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 19-year-old man reported that while he was driving with the teenager and four other passengers, a man pointed a handgun at them and fired several gunshots toward them, and that as they were being shot at, he reversed his vehicle and drove away and discovered that the teenager had been shot in his left hand, according to police
The teenager was transported to Loyola University Hospital in serious condition, according to police.
The shooter was described as white Hispanic, age 18 to 24 and wearing a black hooded jacket, gray jeans and a black ski mask.
A MAN WAS stabbed at about 10 p.m. Sunday, June 3, in the 3000 block of West School Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 18-year-old man reported that as he was walking on the sidewalk, a man and a woman approached him and he accidentally bumped into the woman, and that after he argued with them, the man stabbed him near his right rib cage, according to police.
The victim was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital and treated for a minor injury, police said.
The man was described as black, age 19 to 25, between 5-8 and 5-9 and between 150 and 170 pounds, and the woman was described as black, age 18 to 25, between 5-5 and 5-7 and between 125 and 130 pounds.
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, outside her residence in the 4400 block of North Lawndale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 59-year-old woman reported that as she was opening the gate to her residence a man hit her in the head with a black handgun and said, “Give me your purse,” and a witness reported that while he was inside his vehicle he saw the incident and he sounded his horn until the man ran away, according to police.
The man was described as black, about 6-0 and 150 pounds, and wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and a black ski mask.
A WOMAN reported that a she was robbed at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the 3000 block of West Cullom Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old woman reported that while she was walking on the sidewalk a man hit her in the head with a handgun, took her Samsung Galaxy S9 cellphone and ran away, according to police.
The woman was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital and treated for minor blunt trauma, police said.
A MAN WAS cited for allegedly operating a social club without a valid license at 3443 W. Peterson Ave. and reckless conduct following his arrest at about 10:05 a.m. Saturday, June 2, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 48-year-old man reported at about 8:55 a.m. that while he and three witnesses were inside Mike’s Laundry, 3445 W. Peterson Ave., he heard multiple gunshots from the rear of the business, and officers discovered two bullet holes in the rear steel door of the adjacent business at 3443 W. Peterson Ave. and bullet holes in rear windows and in the rear driver’s side door of the man’s parked vehicle behind the building, according to police.
A SWAT team arrived at around 10:05 a.m., entered the business and detained a man and a witness who were inside, police said. The witness was later released, according to police.
The 43-year-old owner of the property reported that a man who is currently in Australia leased the unit and that the man who was detained allegedly had been maintaining the location and engaging in suspicious activities in the rear of the business, and the man operating the business was arrested after officers discovered multiple gaming devices, a pool table, a lounge area and a kitchen area that were being operated by the man under the name Red Tree Cafe without a visible valid business license, police said.
The officers recovered a 9mm handgun and ammunition, according to police.
The man reported that a friend entered the business and said that gunshots were fired at him from another vehicle and the the friend fired the gun through the rear door at the vehicle parked behind the building, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man stole his vehicle at about 9:05 p.m. Monday, June 4, in the 4600 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that as he parked his gray Volkswagen Passat, a man approached him from the rear driver’s side and said, “Get out buddy,” and that the man had his hands in the pockets of his jacket as if he was holding a weapon, according to police.
The man reported that he exited his vehicle and that the man entered his vehicle and drove away with it and that his house keys, personal documents and wallet containing identification cards, a gift card and $130 in cash were inside the vehicle, police said.
The man was described as white, between 5-11 and 6-3 and between 140 and 160 pounds, and wearing a red hooded jacket.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 3:25 p.m. Friday, June 1, in the 3700 block of West School Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 52-year-old man reported that he heard three gunshots and then saw two men running southbound through an alley in the 3200 block of North Lawndale Avenue, and several students of Reilly School, 3650 W. School St., reported that they saw two men fire a handgun at two men who were standing at the intersection of School Street and North Ridgway Avenue, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 3600 block of West Ainslie Street was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home, she discovered that a rear window had been opened and that a Samsung tablet computer valued at $500, four gold rings valued at $400, two gold necklaces valued at $300 and $400 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 3200 block of North Lawndale Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been broken and that jewelry, a pair of Nike shoes and $200 in cash were missing, according to police.
