Local Crime from 17th District 7-19-14
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 9:05 p.m. Thursday, July 10, in the 5300 block of North Sawyer Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 44-year-old man reported that while he was walking his dog, two men on bicycles approached him from behind and that one of them punched him in the back of the head, according to police. The man said that he dropped his cell phone and that one of the men grabbed it, and that when he tried to retrieve the phone, one of the men punched him in the chest, police said.
A PIZZA DELIVERY driver reported that two men attempted to rob him at about 11 p.m. Saturday, July 12, in the 4600 block of West Grace Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 37-year-old man reported that when he got out of his vehicle to deliver a pizza, a man sprayed him with a chemical spray and another man punched him in the head, according to police. The driver said that he dropped the pizza, entered his car and drove away, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that two men attacked each other with boards at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday, July 13, in the 4400 block of West Gunnison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she saw her ex-boyfriend breaking a window on her boyfriend’s truck with a board, her boyfriend went outside and began breaking her ex-boyfriend’s truck window, according to police. The woman said that the two men then began striking each other with the boards and that her boyfriend fled after knocking her ex-boyfriend to the ground, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill people at the Masom mosque, 4353 W. Lawrence Ave., at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday, July 13, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that the man entered the parking lot, displayed a screwdriver and threatened to kill everyone, according to police. The witness said that the man is schizophrenic and that he had not taken his medication, and he was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3700 block of West Grace Street was burglarized between 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, and 2 a.m. Sunday, July 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a side window was open and that a set of apartment keys and two Play Station games were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN reported that her car was burglarized between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, while it was parked at the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she and her boyfriend returned to their car they discovered that the driver’s-side window was broken and that two bags containing an Xbox gaming system, video games, $50 in cash and house keys and her Coach purse containing her wallet, mail, credit cards, a checkbook and $10 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly entered a car at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday, July 12, in the 7000 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
A woman reported that when her car alarm went off she found a woman sitting in the driver’s seat, and that the woman fled when she approached her, according to police. Officers toured the area and found the suspect nearby, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Brandi B. Standley, age 22, of the 0-100 block of Locust Street, Galesburg.
A MAN REPORTED that the catalytic converter was stolen from his car between 12:15 p.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, while it was parked at the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that the muffler was hanging lower than normal and that when he took his car in for service he was informed that the catalytic converter had been removed from the vehicle, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his car window was broken between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Thursday, July 10, while it was parked in the 6500 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man said that when he returned to his car he discovered that the window was broken but that nothing appeared to be missing, according to police.
