Local Crime from 17th District 8-5-17
A TEENAGER reported that he was attacked at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday, July 29, in the 4400 block of North Keokuk Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 13-year-old teenager reported that while he was walking with three teenage friends after playing basketball at Mayfair Park, 4550 W. Sunnyside Ave., two men approached them from a gangway and one of the men lifted up his shirt to display a black handgun, according to police. The teenager reported that his friends ran away and that the two men stopped him and one of the men grabbed him by the neck and hit him with the muzzle of the gun in the left temple and knocked him to the ground, police said.
The teenager reported that the man without the gun picked him up off the ground and told him to leave the area before he ran to join the other teenagers at one of their residences, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, in the 4400 block of West Byron Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 50-year-old man reported that three men in a blue van drove next to his ice cream cart and asked to buy ice cream, and that one of the passengers opened a door of the van and struck him in the face with it, causing a cut above his right eye, while the other passenger exited the van took $14 in cash from his cart before they drove away, according to police.
A MAN WAS stabbed at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday, July 30, on the rear porch of his residence in the 3400 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 53-year-old man reported that after separating his 31-year-old nephew from a woman during an argument, the woman threw an unknown object at the back door and broke a window on the door, then kicked the door open before she stabbed him in the left underarm area with a box cutter, according to police.
The man was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital and was treated for a minor stab wound, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Independence Park, 3945 N. Springfield Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that while he was walking home past the park and a man approached him and talked to him and that another man approached them, pointed a hand gun at him, demanded his bicycle, cell phone and backpack and took his bicycle valued at $600, his cell phone valued at $500 and his backpack containing a set of keys, credit cards and his driver’s license from him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4200 block of North Keeler Avenue was burglarized between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the sliding door on the side of his apartment had been broken in and that seven watches valued at $1,000 and a coins valued at $20 were missing, according to police.
A woman reported that her apartment in the 4000 block of North Kedvale Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the bathroom window had been opened and that jewelry valued at $500 and $200 in cash were missing, according to police.
Lincolnwood
Three vehicle burglaries were reported in the 6900 block and the 7300 block of North Keystone Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 30, and 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, according to Lincolnwood police.
A man in the 6900 block of Keystone reported that when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered that two flashlights valued at $15 and an iPhone cell phone charger valued at $15 were missing, according to police.
A man in the 7300 block of Keystone reported that when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered $15 in cash was missing, police said. A woman who lives on the same block reported that when she returned to her vehicle, she discovered that the driver’s side door and glove compartment had been opened, but that no items were missing, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his bicycle was stolen between 3 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. Saturday, July 29, from the front of the Lincolnwood Library, 4000 W. Pratt Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he locked his black mountain bicycle valued at $500 to a rack outside the library and that when he returned he discovered it was missing, according to police.
