Luring attempt reported
The Chicago Police Department Area North Bureau of Detectives has issued a community alert after an 8-year-old boy reported that a man attempted to lure him into his sport utility vehicle at about 6:55 p.m. Saturday, July 2, in the 6200 block of North Normandy Avenue.
The boy reported that his baseball went over a fence and that when he climbed over the fence, a green sport utility vehicle with white stripes and tinted windows in the back, possibly a Chevrolet Avalanche, stopped and a man offered him candy and said that he would give him a ride, according to police.
The boy said that he ran to a field and alerted family members who saw the vehicle go northbound on Normandy and eastbound on Palatine Avenue, police said.
