A Metra train struck a car and injured a person at about 1:10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the railroad crossing at North Nagle Avenue between North Avondale Avenue and North Northwest Highway, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.
Inbound train 644 on the Union-Pacific Northwest line struck the Ford Taurus in the early afternoon, and police and fire officials are still examining the cause of the crash and the reason the driver ended up on the tracks, Reile said.
The driver was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, and no injuries among people on the train were reported, according to Reile.
Reile said that regular service had resumed by 2:45 p.m.
