Prostitution alleged at Gunnison-Nagle area spa on Chicago’s NW Side

A 64-year-old worker at a massage parlor at 6338 W. Gunnison St. was arrested after she allegedly tried to perform oral sex on an undercover officer for $50 at about 12:35 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The establishment, which was identified by police as Saani Spa, was issued numerous citations in connection with the incident, according to police.
The officer reportedly was offered a 30-minute massage for $50 or 60 minutes for $70, and a 66-year-old worker started the massage but was replaced by the other worker, police said. The officer gave a predetermined signal to the enforcement team to enter the spa after the second worker allegedly was about to initiate a sex act, police said.
The following citations were issued: operating a massage establishment without the regulated (therapist) business license (two counts), operating under unsanitary conditions, illegal activity allowed within a licensed business, failure to post price list for prospective customers to see, improper touching, failure to post city license number on advertisement and failure to display license.
Also, failure to meet the record keeping requirements, failure to provide customers with mandated written notice of state law, failure to maintain clear glass without coverings, failure to keep clean linens, towels and other materials used to massage in closed cabinets, employment of non-licensed therapists, failure to maintain list of therapists who perform services and allowing a non-licensed massage therapist perform massage therapy and to be seen in massage room when a patron is present, police said.
The city Department of Business Affairs has taken enforcement action against other spas at he Gunnison address but not since 2018, the department said.
It was reported in 2017 that a worker at the Gunnison Spa, 6338 W. Gunnison St., was issued citations for alleged prostitution and operating a house of ill fame after officers conducted a sting operation at about 11:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, according to police.
Responding to complaints by residents, an undercover officer went to the business in for a 1-hour massage for $70, and during the massage the officer solicited a sexual act and the woman allegedly agreed to perform the act for $50, police said.
