Restaurant proposal on zoning board’s agenda
by BRIAN NADIG
A proposed fast-food restaurant in Sauganash is on the agenda for the March 17 meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
The restaurant would be built on the former site of a gas station at 4102 W. Peterson Ave., which is between a viaduct to the west and a former veterinary office to the east. A building on the site was demolished several years ago.
A special use permit is being sought for a one-lane drive-through facility for the restaurant. The name of the restaurant is name was not listed on the zoning board’s agenda.
Alderman Margaret Laurino’s spokesman Manuel Galvan said that the item will be deferred at the board’s meeting. "The alderman is in talks with the developer," Galvan said. "There’s nothing definite."
The agenda for the meeting also contains a request for a west setback variation from the required 10 feet to 6.54 feet for a planned 3 1/2-story, 16-unit apartment building at 4812 W. Montrose Ave. The site is between a three-story apartment building and a gas station.
Two rear setback variations have been requested for a planned three-story, 15-unit apartment building at 4111-19 N. Narragansett Ave., on the former site of a canoe shop. One variation calls for a setback of 12.08 feet instead of the required 50 feet and the other calls for 16.33 feet instead of the required 50 feet.
The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, March 17, in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St.
