SHOTS were fired at about 7:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, in the 5100 block of West Devon Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Witnesses reported seeing a man in a silver or gray vehicle, described as possibly a Honda or Toyota, drive into the middle of the intersection and fire several shots at another vehicle and flee south on Caldwell Avenue, according to police.
Officers recovered two spent 9-millimeter shell casings, police said.
The shooter was described as having a dark complexion, and wearing a bright orange or red sweatshirt.
TWO teenagers were arrested in connection with a reported carjacking at about 6:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in the 5000 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
A 33-year-old woman reported that a man forced her from her 2015 Subaru by striking her in the face with an unknown object and that a second man tried to enter the vehicle through a passenger side door, according to police.
The teens were apprehended within hours of the incident after officers allegedly found them inside the Subaru in the 9400 block of South Wentworth Avenue, police said. Using a remote tracking device the vehicle’s owner worked with officers to locate the vehicle, police said.
A 17-year-old suspect was charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, and a 16-year-old suspect was charged with vehicular hijacking, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in a garage in the 5100 block of West Pensacola Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he was sitting in the garage in a vehicle with friends and the door open when a man entered the garage and pointed a gun at them, according to police.
The man reported that the man fired a single shot into the ground and he exited the driver side and was struck in the left side of his face with the gun, police said.
One of the man’s friends reported that the man with the gun demanded their belongings, took his cell phone, then returned it and fled, according to police.
The man was described as Black, age 20 to 30, 5-8 to 5-10 and 150 pounds, and wearing a blue jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt, gray and white scarf, a black neck gaiter and dark blue jeans.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was hit by gunfire at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in the 4000 block of North Austin Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 35-year-old woman reported that she was stopped at a light on Austin when a black vehicle drove up on the driver’s side and a man exited and fired several shots at her vehicle, which struck the driver’s side window and exited through the front windshield, according to police. A passenger in the woman’s vehicle reported the man entered the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction, police said.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Subway restaurant, 5050 N. Cicero Ave., reported that the business was robbed at about 6:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a person entered the store, ordered a sandwich and pointed a handgun and demanded money from the register, according to police. The employee reported that the person took $250 in cash, police said.
The person with the gun was described as age 20 to 25, 5-11 and 120 to 150 pounds, wearing a black face mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black gloves.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6200 block of North Leader Avenue was broken into between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was forced open and items were thrown around on the second floor, according to police.
A MAN WAS shot at about 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, in the 3400 block of West Cullom Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 27-year-old man reported that he was driving on Cullom when several shots were fired at the rear window of his car and a 39-year-old male passenger was struck once in the back of the head, according to police.
The 27-year-old man reported that he drove the man to Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said. The 39-year-old man was transferred to Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, according to police. Officers recovered 3 spent shell casings on Cullom Avenue, police said.
A MAN REPORTED an attempted carjacking at about 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, in the 4800 block of North Kostner Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store, 4771 N. Elston Ave., when a man approached, demanded a ride and entered his car, according to police.
The man reported that the man told him to drive around and when he drove the man to the 4800 block of Kostner the man pointed a handgun and demanded that he exit the vehicle, according to police.
The 31-year-old man reported that he turned off the vehicle, took the keys and fled south, police said.
The man with the gun was described as age 20 to 30, with black hair, wearing a white jacket and black pants.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Target store, 4631 W. Foster Ave., reported that the store was burglarized at about 2:55 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Surveillance footage showed a red Cadillac CTS drove to the side door and two men exited the vehicle, according to police. Footage showed one of the men used a crowbar to pry open the door and the men entered the store with a garbage can, police said.
Footage from inside showed the men shattered a glass case containing multiple watches, took the watches and fled, according to police.
The man that pried the door open was described as Black, age 17 to 30, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and gray jeans. The other man was described as age 17 to 30, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray pants.
AN EMPLOYEE of Famous Footwear, 4630 W. Irving Park Road, reported a theft at about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store and requested 15 pairs of Nike shoes valued at $100 each, according to police. The employee reported that when the shoes were brought from the stock room the man placed them in a garbage bag and ran from the store, police said.
The man was described as Black, age 30 to 32, 5-6 to 5-7 and 150 to 160 pounds, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6000 block of North Kilbourn Avenue was burglarized between about 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, and about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered the front door was opened and jewelry valued at $3,000 was missing, according to police.
