Local Crime from 17th District 2-10-18

SHOTS WERE fired at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the 6200 block of North Kedvale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 40-year-old man reported that he was driving through an alley when he saw two men run out of his neighbor’s garage holding guns and fleeing south, while a 64-year-old man reported that he was sleeping and woke up to the sound of his kitchen and second floor windows shattering, according to police. Officers found at least 10 spent bullet casings in the backyard of the 64-year-old’s home and another neighbor’s home, police said.
One man was described as white and approximately 5-6 and 150 pounds. Another man was described as white and approximately 5-8 and 165 pounds.

SHOTS WERE fired at about 1:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in the parking lot of the Best Buy store, 3262 W. Belmont Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The manager reported that two customers informed him that there was a shootout in the parking lot, while a separate anonymous caller reported that a man possibly carrying a gun fled the parking lot in a black Chevrolet Malibu or Cruze, according to police. About 75 yards east of the store, officers recovered one live.45-caliber bullet and a spent bullet casing of the same type, a .45-caliber bullet casing, a plastic bag containing suspected cocaine residue and a black baseball cap with a red "Polo" brand logo, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that three men robbed him, a woman and his son at gunpoint at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the 4400 block of North Hamlin Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that he was with a 25-year-old woman and his 3-year-old son to meet friends in an apartment building when they were approached by three men in the building hallway and one of them pointed a black handgun at them and demanded their belongings, according to police. The man reported that they stole the woman’s cell phone, driver’s license and $6 in cash and his cell phone and a 15-pack of beer, that they threw the man’s phone away after he said it had a tracking device, and that they searched through the woman’s car looking for other items before running west on Sunnyside Avenue and north on Avers Avenue, according to police.
All three men were described as white/Hispanic and age 20 to 25. The armed man was further described as about 5-5 and 130 pounds and wearing a black skullcap, black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. Another man was further described as about 5-10 and 170 pounds, and wearing a puffy green jacket. The third man was further described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and a black facemask with pink lettering.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed on a train near the a CTA Addison Blue Line station, 3622 W. Addison St., between 7:30 and 7:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 44-year-old woman reported that she was riding southbound when three men surrounded her and demanded her belongings, that she handed over her purse containing credit and transit cards, about $8 in cash and an iPhone valued at $500, and that she tried to get off at the California stop, 2211 N. California Ave., but that the men would not let her leave until the train reached the CTA Grand Blue Line station, 502 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to police.
All three men were described as black, age 17 to 19 and with black hair. One man was further described as between 5-8 to 6-0 and 150 to 200 pounds, another man as between 5-7 to 6-0 and 150 to 180 pounds, and the third man as between 5-8 to 6-0 and 150 to 180 pounds.

A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4300 block of North Richmond Street was burglarized at about 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 50-year-old man reported that when he returned home he discovered that an envelope containing $1,333 in cash and a jar containing medicinal cannabis valued at about $40 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3600 block of North Christiana Avenue was burglarized between noon Monday, Feb. 5, and 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 67-year-old man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been pried open but he was unsure of what may be missing at the time of the report, according to police.
