Local Crime from 16th District 1-21-15

A TEENAGER WAS arrested after he allegedly burglarized a home in the 4400 block of North Lamon Avenue at about 1:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report by a resident that a teenager had gone to the rear of a neighbor’s home arrested the suspect after he left the home carrying a shopping bag that contained an iPad, an iPad charger and a Lumix digital camera, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as a 17-year-old male.

TWO TEENAGERS were arrested after they allegedly broke into a garage in the 3400 block of North Osage Avenue at about 2:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An officer chased to teens who he had seen acting suspiciously near an open garage, and two of the teens were apprehended, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as two 16-year-old males.

SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported on the Northwest Side between Jan. 13 and Jan. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Incidents of stolen vehicles were reported in the 7300 and 7500 block of West Irving Park Road, the 3200 block of North Plainfield Avenue, the 3300 block of North Octavia Avenue, the 3800 block of North Harlem Avenue, the 5000 block of West Winona Street, the 5300 block of North Delphia Avenue and the 5600 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to police.

SEVERAL thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles were reported on the Northwest Side between Jan. 11 and Jan. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Incidents of catalytic converters missing from vehicles were reported in the 5300 block of West Foster Avenue, the 5500 block of North Austin Avenue, the 5700 block of North McVicker Avenue and the 5600 block of North Mulligan Avenue, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Dunkin Donuts restaurant, 5050 N. Cicero Ave., was burglarized at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that he discovered that the restaurant office had been broken into and that two cash registers, a safe, two employee paychecks valued at $500 and $10,300 in cash were missing, according to police. Surveillance footage shows three men break into the office and remove the safe, police said.

SEVERAL garages in the 5000 block of West Roscoe Street and the 5000 to 5100 blocks of West Newport Avenue were broken into at about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to report of a garage burglary in the 5000 block of Roscoe and saw open garage doors at five other homes in the area, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the La Margarita restaurant, 4368 N. Milwaukee Ave., was burglarized between Jan. 1 and Jan. 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that he discovered that various electronics and disc jockey equipment valued at $26,800 and $19,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5900 block of North Elston Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, and 12:50 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been broken in and that a passport, jewelry valued at $7,330 and various coins valued at $600 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4600 block of North Leamington Avenue was burglarized between 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, and 1:30 p.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a glass panel on the rear door was broken and that a 42-inch LG television set valued at $1,000, an Xbox video game system valued at $350, a Sony Play Station video game system valued at $200, various Sony Play Station games valued at $500, a set of car keys and a 2013 Mazda 3 automobile were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 3200 block of North Mobile Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, and 12:01 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the apartment had been broken into and that jewelry valued at $10,100 was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3900 block of North Oconto Avenue was burglarized between 7:05 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the basement door had been broken in and that $15,000 in cash was missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6100 block of West Gunnison Street was burglarized between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been broken in and that jewelry and $700 in cash were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5200 block of West Peterson Avenue was burglarized between 3 and 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the side door of the garage had been broken in and that tools valued at $2,000 were missing, according to police.
