Local Crime from 16th District 10-14-15
SHOTS WERE fired and a car was set on fire at about 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the 5300 block of West Grace Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 32-year-old man reported that the 2005 Acura that received fire damaged to the driver’s side and the tire is his mother’s, according to police. Firefighters said that the fire was started through the use of gasoline, and the man reported that he extinguished the fire with a garden hose, police said.
The man reported that he heard gunshots before he discovered the fire, and officers discovered five shells near the vehicle, a jar containing a liquid and a lighter, police said.
A WOMAN reported that a man has been stalking her at about 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the 5400 block West Catalpa Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old woman reported that after she dropped her son off at school, a man in a van stopped, asked her questions about where she lived and blew her a kiss, according to police. The woman reported that the same incident occurred at the same time on three previous days, police said.
THE FATHER of a 13-year-old girl reported that a group of men attempted to lure her into a pickup truck at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the 5600 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that his daughter told him that a reddish-brown pickup truck containing four men followed her and that she heard someone inside say, "We got her," according to police. The man reported that his daughter told him that she turned onto Major Avenue and the vehicle continued to follow her and drove through an alley, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly seriously wounded a man with a knife at about 10:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the 3600 block of North Menard Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report of a person stabbed discovered that a man was being treated by paramedics on the front lawn of a home in the 5700 block of West Waveland Avenue, according to police. Witnesses reported that they were celebrating in the home following a Chicago Cubs game and that the two men began arguing and one was told to leave, police said.
A 29-year-old man reported that he went outside and that the other man followed him to the 3600 block of Menard and stabbed him three times with a switchblade knife, according to police. Witnesses reported that the alleged assailant went back to the home on Waveland, picked up his belongings and said that he had stabbed the other man three times, police said.
The injured man walked back to the Waveland address, and he was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition with stab wounds to the torso, back and arm, police said.
Officers placed the assailant into custody near Diversey and Major avenues, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Noe Pereda, age 30, of the 5700 block of West Grand Avenue.
EMPLOYEES of the Fade Inn barbershop, 5614 W. Irving Park Road, reported that a man broke the front window with a board at about 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employees reported that the man was intoxicated when he entered the business and was told to leave, according to police. Employees said that the man later returned and broke the window and that the shattered glass cut a 5-year-old boy on the head, police said. The boy was treated at Community First Medical Center, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked by a group of people at about 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in the parking lot of the Brewery tavern, 3848 N. Harlem Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that he walked into the bar with a friend and saw that a man was pushing a woman and told him to stop and that an argument ensued, according to police. The man said that he left the bar with his friend and that a group of seven men attacked him in the parking lot, struck him with beer bottles and punched and kicked him in the face and the body, police said. The man was treated at Resurrection Hospital for an orbital fracture to the right eye, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in the 5500 block of North Chester Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun and took his phone valued at $500 and that the second man took his backpack containing a laptop computer valued at $700, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that two men attempted to rob him at about 10:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the 3600 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that two men got out of a vehicle and that one of them punched him in the mouth, knocking out a front tooth, and that the second man attempted to take his backpack, according to police. The man said that he fought off the men and that they fled in the car driven by a third man, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 9:35 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the 5200 block of North Oakview Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 33-year-old man reported that a man placed a metal object to his head and took $50 from him, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the 3900 block of North LeClaire Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 60-year-old woman reported that a man displayed a handgun and took her purse containing a credit card and a checkbook, and a gold ring with diamonds, a necklace and a cell phone, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of West Ainslie Street was burglarized between 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and 7 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was open and that jewelry valued at $1,200 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5700 block of West Gunnison Street was burglarized between 6:50 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the kitchen window was open and that a tablet, two necklaces, earrings and three rings were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5400 block of North Natoma Avenue was burglarized between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was open and that $300 in coins was missing from jars, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6800 block of West Melrose Street was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a 42-inch television set was missing, according to police.
