Local Crime from 16th District 10-15-14

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly confronted police officers during a traffic stop at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, in the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers stopped a vehicle that was being driven left of the center line at a high rate of speed and that failed to stop at a red light at West Higgins Avenue, and the driver was arrested after he approached the officers in a threatening manner, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Muhammad S. Sayani, age 20, of the 9000 block of North Luna Avenue.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly attempted to steal a bicycle at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Jefferson Park CTA station, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a report of a man attempting to steal a bicycle from a bike rack, and the suspect was arrested when they saw a man who matched the description that was provided carrying channel locks and walking away with a bicycle, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Stan Sadej, age 56, of the 3100 block of West Fillmore Street.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a pickpocket at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at a restaurant in the 6800 block of North Northwest Highway, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old woman reported that her wallet was snatched from her purse while she was inside the restaurant, according to police.

SEVERAL vehicles were reported as stolen between Oct. 6 and Oct. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Incidents of stolen vehicles were reported in the 6200 block of West Byron Street, the 8600 block of West Summerdale Avenue, the 5500 block of North Odell Avenue, the 6500 block of North Oconto Avenue, the 3800 block of North Odell Avenue, the 5800 block of West Higgins Avenue and the 4300 block of North Meade Avenue, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5800 block of North Elston Avenue was burglarized between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 58-year old woman reported that she discovered that the front doors were ajar and that jewelry and miscellaneous coins were missing, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that two women shoplifted items from the Walgreens drug store, 5935 W. Addison St., was robbed at about 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that took the entire Trident Gum display valued at $200 and fled to a black Lexus car that was driven by a man, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked and robbed in the 3500 block of North Lockwood Avenue at about 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year old man reported that three men approached him near, punched him repeatedly and struck him on the head with a blunt object, and took his wallet and cell phone, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that two men stole his car in 5700 block of North Cicero Avenue at about 2:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that two men got out of two vehicles that were following him and that one of them displayed a handgun and forced him to get out of his car, and the men drove away in his 2008 BMW while other occupants drove away in their vehicles, according to police. The man’s car was discovered crashed on the Edens Expressway, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of West Argyle Street was burglarized between 4:40 and 7:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 41-year old man reported that he discovered that the side door had been broken in and that jewelry valued at $20,000 and $3,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5000 block of West Addison Street had been burglarized at about 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 47-year old woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the basement door had been broken in and that electronics items valued at $1,120 and a diamond ring valued at $800 were missing, according to police.
