Local Crime from 16th District 10-28-15

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, in the parking lot of Byline Bank, 6000 W. Montrose Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 57-year-old man reported that after he parked his car at the bank, a man approached the passenger side, broke the window with a gun, climbed into the car through the broken window, took two bundles of cash in the amount of $13,741 and fled, according to police. Witnesses reported that they saw the man flee in a red sport utility vehicle, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 21 to 29 and 5-5, and wearing a black jacket and black pants.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the 5300 block of West Berteau Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun and took his cell phone and his backpack containing a digital videodisc player and an iPod, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, on a CTA Blue Line train near the Jefferson Park terminal, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 57-year-old man reported that two men demanded money and that when he pulled out a $1 bill, which he said was all the money he had, one of them kicked him in the back, causing him to fall, and told him to stay down and not to look at them, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the 5200 block of North Oakview Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 30-year-old man reported that he planned to him a pair of gym shoes to a man who he met on a Web site and that he agreed to meet the man in a gangway, according to police. The man said that the man displayed a handgun and took the shoes, his car keys and his cell phone, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in the 4600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 33-year-old woman reported that she was with a 41-year-old man at Wilson Park and that three men approached with two dogs and one of them displayed a handgun and took her purse containing miscellaneous identification cards, according to police.

THE OWNER of Marino Chrysler and Jeep reported that eight wheels were stolen from two cars between 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and 9:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, while they were parked in a lot in the 5300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that four wheels valued at $4,400 were missing from a 2015 Dodge Durango and that four wheels valued at $4,400 were missing from a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to police. The man reported that windows had been broken to access a wheel lock mechanism in both vehicles, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Auto Zone store, 5374 N. Milwaukee Ave., was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and 8:10 p.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a burglary alarm discovered that the rear door had been forced open, according to police. The employee reported that stereos, car alarms and car starters valued at about $10,000 and tools were missing, police said. The employee reported that a safe was damaged but that it was not opened, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5500 block of West Windsor Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was open and that jewelry and watches were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6000 block of West Warwick Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that watches, bracelets and necklaces valued at $2,500 were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5600 block of North Elston Avenue was burglarized between 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, and 3:50 p.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that an air conditioning unit had been pushed in and that three television sets, a Play Station 3 video game console, a camera, 15 pairs of Michael Jordan gym shoes, a handheld video game system and miscellaneous video games were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3500 block of North Laramie Avenue was burglarized at about 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he was in his front yard when two men drove up in a car and one of them said that they would be doing construction work in the alley, according to police. The resident said that the man walked with him to the back yard while the first one stayed in the front and that he later discovered that gold bracelets, rings and jewelry valued at $7,000 were missing from his home, police said.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5400 block of North Lawler Avenue was burglarized between 2:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Oct. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a jar containing $200 in coins, $500 in cash and gold jewelry were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 3500 block of North Neva Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, and 7:30 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she discovered that a window to the garage was open and that $8,320 worth of tools, a law mower valued at $400 and a bicycle valued at $1,200 were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 3700 block of North Oriole Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, and 11 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that the side door was open and that two bicycles, a tent, a grass trimmer, a grill, a generator, a power washer, a lawn mower and a snow blower were missing, according to police.

THE LA PALAPITA restaurant, 4263 N. Milwaukee Ave., was cited for having an expired retail food establishment license at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
