Local Crime from 16th District 10-5-2016

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 5600 W. Irving Park Road, was robbed at about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old man reported that a man displayed two knives and handed him a note demanding money and cigarettes and threatening to kill him and that he gave the man $300 and he fled to a red sport utility vehicle driven by a woman, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man attempted to rob the Shell gas station, 7201 W. Higgins Ave., at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that a man entered the store acting suspiciously and asked for a lottery ticket and a pack of cigarettes and then displayed two knives and demanded money, according to police. The employee said that he took out a pipe from underneath the counter and that the man fled to a red sport utility vehicle driven by a woman, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 7555 W. Irving Park Road, was robbed at about 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 65-year-old employee reported that a man placed two knives on the counter, took $20 in cash and fled to a red Ford Escape driven by a woman, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 12:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at her home in the 6300 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 90-year-old woman reported that as she was raking leaves a man told her that the shingles were coming off her roof and that he could fix them, according to police. The woman said that she went with the man to the rear of the home and that she later discovered that three gold rings valued at $750, two gold watches and a silver watch were missing, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at her home in the 5100 block of North Elston Avenue, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 65-year-old woman reported that a man knocked on her back door and asked her if she wanted her roof repaired and she walked out with the man to the front of the building, and that when she went inside she discovered that a checkbook, a social security card and $200 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that a man broke into her home in the 5100 block of North Monitor Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 93-year-old woman reported that she came out of the bathroom and discovered a man who told her that he had been hired by her husband to fix the sidewalk and that he needed change for a $100 bill to purchase materials, according to police. The woman said that the man told her that he needed buckets and she went downstairs with him and that she later discovered that $1,500 was missing from the bedroom, police said.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6500 block of North Oliphant Avenue was burglarized between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that two bicycles were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3700 block of North Oketo Avenue was burglarized between 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear basement window had been forced open and that two necklaces and two pairs of earrings were missing from a safety deposit box, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in 5200 block of West Berenice Avenue was burglarized between 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, and 7:45 a.m. the following day, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a car lift was missing, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man broke into the Burger King restaurant, 4125 N. Milwaukee Ave., at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a surveillance video shows a man break the side entrance door and then return to the business at about 1:40 a.m. and walk toward an office before being scared off by a motion detector, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6000 block of West School Street was burglarized at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she got a call from her neighbor who told her that her home had been burglarized and when she returned home she discovered that the side door had been forced open and that 10 gold rings valued at $7,000, five gold necklaces valued at $7,000, 12 watches valued at $6,000, a chain valued at $1,000 and $2,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
The neighbor reported that she saw a man carrying a pillowcase who fled in a white Chevrolet Malibu driven by another man, police said.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5700 block of West Cornelia Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, according to the 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a side window was open and that a cell phone, a Play Station 4 video game console and a controller were missing, according to police.
