Local Crime from 16th District 11-14-18
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at gunpoint at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the 6000 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 47-year-old man reported that he was talking to two men who were standing next to a blue Buick automobile that had its hood opened and that one of the men suddenly pointed a semi-automatic handgun at him and demanded his possessions, according to police. The man reported that the men searched through his pockets and took his wallet containing $500 in cash, credit cards and his driver’s license before he ran to his vehicle and drove away, according to police.
The men were described as black, age 28 to 35, between 5-11 and 6-1 and about 175 pounds. One of the men was described as bald and wearing a gray hooded jacket.
A WOMAN reported that two men robbed her at about 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in the 5300 block of West Berenice Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 55-year-old woman reported that while she was sitting inside her parked vehicle, a red 4-door vehicle with Indiana license plates parked in front of her on the street and that two men exited the vehicle and approached her vehicle, according to police.
The woman reported that one of the men opened her passenger door, while the other man opened the driver’s side door, and that after she exited the vehicle and told them to "take the car and leave me alone," the man on the driver’s side searched through her pockets and took a purse valued at $100 containing $28 in cash, credit cards and identification cards from her, then pulled her keys out of the vehicle’s ignition, threw them on the sidewalk and ordered her to retrieve the keys before both men entered their vehicle and drove away southbound on North Long Avenue, police said.
The men were described as black, age 25 to 30, between 6-0 and 6-2, 180 and 200 pounds, and wearing dark blue jeans, a black hooded jacket and a gray hooded jacket.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the 3300 block of North Leclaire Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that while she was walking on the sidewalk with her daughter a man approached her from behind, grabbed her purse valued at $20 from her shoulder and ran away west on West Henderson Street, according to police.
The man was described as black, about 6-0 and 220 pounds, and wearing a black hooded jacket.
A WOMAN reported that a man robbed her at about 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the 4800 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old woman reported that as she was walking in the street, a man grabbed her arm and took her purse valued at $60 containing an Apple iPhone 6 cell phone valued at $500 and fled through an alley southbound, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, about 6-3 and 210 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes, and wearing a black hooded jacket.
A MAN REPORTED he was attacked at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the 5000 block of West Agatite Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a man approached him at his home and attempted to get him to sign up for an alternative energy source to Commonwealth Edison, and that after he told the man he was not interested, the man became angry, accused him of being racist, ran at him and knocked him to the ground, according to police. The man reported that after they fought the man shouted, "Okay, fine, I give up" and a woman punched him in the face before the man and woman entered a white sport utility vehicle and drove away, according to police.
The man and woman were described as black and between age 20 and 25.
A TEENAGER was arrested after he allegedly took a woman’s cell phone at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, on a train near the CTA Harlem Blue Line station, 5550 N. Harlem Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 38-year-old woman reported that while she was sitting on an outbound train, a teenager grabbed her Apple iPhone 8 cell phone valued at $800 from her hands and walked away, and that when the train stopped at the Harlem station, he ran out of the train with her cell phone while she chased after him on the platform and back onto the same train, according to police.
The woman reported that she pressed an emergency button inside the train and informed CTA personnel of the incident, and the teenager was detained by CTA staff and until officers arrested him at the Cumberland CTA Blue Line station, 5800 N. Cumberland Ave., after they discovered the woman’s cell phone inside the teen’s book bag, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 15-year-old male.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed on a CTA Blue Line train at about 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the 8400 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that as a train was approaching the Cumberland CTA Blue Line station, 5800 N. Cumberland Ave., a man grabbed his Apple iPhone 8 cell phone and a blue leather case valued at $895 and ran out of the train, according to police.
The man reported that he exited the train and chased after the man, but was unable to catch him, police said.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, between 5-5 and 5-6, between 140 and 150 pounds, with short black hair and wearing a black sweater and black sweatpants.
A PIZZA DELIVERY driver reported that his vehicle was stolen between 6:55 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, from the parking lot of the Domino’s Pizza restaurant, 3918 N. Cicero Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The driver reported that he left his blue 2015 Toyota Corolla 4-door sedan automobile running with the keys inside the ignition while he entered the restaurant to pick up his next delivery, and that when he returned he discovered that his vehicle was missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their apartment in the 4800 block of West Dakin Street was burglarized between 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a black and white female micro American bully dog valued at $4,000, three watches valued at $600, a pair of yellow gold earrings valued at $500 and a yellow gold necklace valued at $1,500 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his residence in the 5000 block of West Ainslie Street was burglarized between 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, and 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that various power tools valued at $2,000 were missing from the basement, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his residence in the 3700 block of North Nordica Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, and 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been opened and that two gold watches valued at $1,000, a television set valued at $600 and a stereo valued at $600 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her residence in the 3300 block of North Neenah Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that he side door had been forced open and that jewelry valued at $6,000 and $500 in cash were missing, according to police.
CATALYTIC converter thefts were reported between Nov. 8 and Nov. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Catalytic converter thefts were reported stolen in the 6000 block of West Irving Park Road, the 4600 block of North Leamington Avenue, the 6200 block of West Byron Street and the 4000 block of North Monitor Avenue, according to police.
