Local Crime from 16th District 2-5-14

A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him in an apparent road rage incident at about 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the 4400 block of North Melvina Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that his car slid on the road and hit a Ford Mustang, and that the driver of the Mustang got out of the car and began shouting at him while wielding a 3-foot stick, according to police. The man said that he drove away and that the man followed him for a time while displaying a knife, police said.

A MAN WAS arrested on robbery and criminal trespass charges at about 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the garage of a home in the 3300 block of North Long Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 36-year-old woman reported that after she got out of her car in the garage, a man took her keys and entered the car, according to police. The woman said that she ran out of the garage and closed the door with her garage opener, trapping the man inside, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Andre Bacon II, age 21, of the 11000 block of South Harvard Avenue.

A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 3:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in the 5900 block of West Barry Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teen reported that a man and a woman approached him and that the woman struck him in the face and the man took his cell phone from his backpack, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in the 3900 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that two men were not allowed to purchase liquor at MCM Pub and Eatery, 3906 N. Cicero Ave., that after he purchased beer himself and left the store, one of the men attacked him with a baseball bat, striking him on the back of the head, and took his beer, according to police.

A PARKING LOT manager reported that he was robbed at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the CTA Cumberland Blue Line station, 5800 N. Cumberland Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that he is employed by Central Parking Systems and that as he was counting money in a mobile trailer, a man knocked on the door, forced his way in, displayed a handgun and took $3,000 in cash, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the 5900 block of West Berenice Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 51-year-old woman reported that after she drove her car into her garage, a man displayed a handgun and took her purse containing $2,000 in cash, $6,000 worth of jewelry, two cell phones and keys, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Dunkin’ Donuts, 6200 W. Belmont Ave., was robbed at about 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old woman reported that a man wearing a mask entered the store, displayed a handgun and took $300 from the cash register, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the 3200 block of North Octavia Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 33-year-old man reported that after he left O’Malley’s Pub, 3215 N. Harlem Ave., two men struck him from behind, causing him to fall to the ground, punched and kicked him in the face and the body, and took $180 from him, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the 3300 block of North Neva Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that a group of two or three men struck him on the head, knocking him out, and that when he regained consciousness about 30 minutes later he discovered that his North Face jacket valued at $300 was missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at her home in the 3200 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 57-year-old woman reported that she received three calls from a woman who said she was her niece who had been involved in an accident and that she needed $6,000 or that she would go to jail, according to police. The woman said that the woman said that a man would come to pick up the money, but instead a woman who she thought was her niece’s sister arrived and took the money, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5400 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $700, a video camera valued at $450, three rings valued at $1,500, a watch valued at $600 and $5,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

A MAN AND a woman reported that their home in the 5700 block of West Giddings Street was burglarized between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The residents reported that when they returned home they discovered that two laptop computers valued at $600, about $8,700 worth of jewelry, an iPod Touch and an iPad were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5000 block of West Wilson Avenue was burglarized between 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, and 5:20 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that $100 in cash was missing, according to police.

THE OWNER of the Boost Mobile store, 3332 N. Harlem Ave., reported that the business was burglarized at about 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 55-year-old man reported that when he arrived at the business he discovered that the back door had been forced open and that cell phones valued at about $2,700 and $158 in cash were missing, according to police.
