Local Crime from 16th District 7-27-2016

A MAN WAS shot at about 12:10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Shell gas station, 6400 W. Belmont Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 38-year-old man reported that as he left the station store a man asked him for help and he followed him behind the store, where the man shot him in the left thigh, according to police. The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed and sexually assaulted at about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the 3300 block of North New England Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 29-year-old woman reported that a man asked her for a cigarette and that she talked to him for several minutes and told him that she had pain in her knee and he offered her Vicodin pills, according to police. The woman said that she followed the man and that he tried to force her to perform a sex act and that he took her purse containing a cell phone, police said.

A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the 8500 block of West Winona Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old woman reported that a man asked for a cigarette and grabbed her purse and that during the struggle the man punched her in the eye, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that two men attempted to rob her at about 3 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the 5500 block of North Delphia Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 41-year-old woman reported that a man knocked her to the ground and a second man tried to take her purse and dragged her down the sidewalk, according to police.

THREE MEN reported that their home in the 5400 block of West Higgins Avenue was burglarized at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, July 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
One of the men reported that when he returned home he discovered that the patio window was broken and that a television set valued at $800, a digital video disc player valued at $50, three pairs of sunglasses valued at $1,000, a watch valued at $1,000, two pairs of cuff links, five bottles of cologne, a pair of shoes, two laptop computers valued at $300, four baseball jerseys, keys, 10 Xbox video games, an Xbox video game consoles, two watches valued at $100, reading glasses, a tennis racket and $5,325 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5100 block of West Agatite Avenue was burglarized at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that the rear door was open and that a guitar valued at $10,000 and a wallet were missing, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Forno Rosso Pizzeria, 3719 N. Harlem Ave., was burglarized between 1:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Friday, July 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the rear door was open and that a desktop computer, a laptop computer and an iPad valued at a total of $5,000 were missing, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that Caponies Trattoria, 7419 W. Irving Park Road, was burglarized between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Friday, July 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the front door glass was broken and that $200 in cash was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3200 block of North Lockwood Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Thursday, July 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear window had been forced open and that a desktop computer, a television set, two watches and $250 in coins were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 8500 block of West Rascher Avenue was burglarized between 4:20 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that a laptop computer valued at $200, three rings, a laptop computer valued at $1,250, a camera valued at $650, a camera lens valued at $200 and two necklaces valued at $400 were missing, according to police.
Another woman reported that her home in the same block of Rascher was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. the same day, according to police. The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that two laptop computers, three watches and jewelry were missing, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 8700 block of West Berwyn Avenue was burglarized between 7:20 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Monday, July 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front window had been broken and that jewelry valued at $3,000 and $300 in cash were missing, according to police.

TWO WOMEN reported that their vehicle was burglarized between 8 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. Friday, July 23, while it was parked in a parking lot in the 4000 block of North Laporte Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The women reported that when they returned to the vehicle they discovered that two purses containing credit cards, Xanax pills and a headset were missing, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested on retail theft charges after he allegedly stole a package of fish from Whole Foods, 6020 N. Cicero Ave., at about 11:35 a.m. Monday, July 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that he saw a man take a package of halibut valued at $53.68 and leave the store without paying for the item, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Waclaw Henzel, age 59, of the 6500 block of West Belmont Avenue.
