Local Crime from 16th District 8-9-17
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the U.S. Bank, 5850 W. Belmont Ave., was robbed at about 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A teller reported that a man handed her a note that said he had been following her, had knowledge of her address and family and that he had a gun and demanded money, according to police. The teller reported that she gave the man $310 in cash from her register before the man exited the bank, police said.
The man was described as black, age 50 to 60 , 5-5 to 5-7, with brown eyes and black hair, and wearing a black T-shirt, black pants, white shoes, a red baseball cap and sunglasses.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening an employee at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at the McDonald’s restaurant, 4320 N. Cicero Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that a man and his girlfriend entered the restaurant on several occasions and allegedly caused disturbances, and that the restaurant staff has told the couple that they are no longer allowed inside the business, according to police. The man reported that when he asked the man to leave, the man refused, pointed a knife at him and allegedly threatened him, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Navil Hernandez, age 28, of the 5000 block of West Agatite Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, in the 4800 block of West Pensacola Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 46-year-old man reported that a man driving a black pickup truck drove next to him and stopped while he was standing near his vehicle, and that when he started walking away, the man drove his truck in front of him and blocked him into the alley, pointed a handgun, demanded his possessions and took gift cards valued at $300 and his state identification card and then drove away, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man took items from the 7-Eleven store, 5789 N. Milwaukee Ave., at about 1:10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store, took two wireless Bluetooth speakers valued at $50 and three wireless Bluetooth headsets valued at $90 and ran out of the store, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that two bicycles were stolen from the garage of her residence in the 7300 block of West Touhy Avenue between 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, and 6:30 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her garage she discovered that two bicycles valued at $800 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 12:45 p.m. and 2:10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, in the 4600 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that a global positioning system device and battery valued at $149, a generator valued at $475 and a cooler valued at $40 were missing, according to police.
SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported between Aug. 1 and Aug. 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Vehicles were reported stolen in the 5400 block of North Cumberland Avenue, the 5700 block of North Major Avenue, the 4900 block of West Roscoe Street, the 4800 block of North Mulligan Avenue, and the 6400 block of North Newark Avenue, according to police.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the T.J. Maxx store, 6456 W. Irving Park Road, at about 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman conceal eight clothing items valued at $109 inside her clothing and purse and leave the store without paying, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Mitchell D. Urrutia, age 45, of the 5000 block of West Armitage Avenue.
