Local Crime from 16th District 9-14-2016

A MAN WAS SHOT at about 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the 5200 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported at Community First Medical Center that he was in a car with his brother and that his girlfriend was driving and that he saw a man and a woman arguing in a Chevrolet Malibu and he laughed at them, according to police. The man said that the driver of the Malibu followed them and fired six or seven shots at them and that a bullet grazed his knee, police said. The man reported that his brother was injured on the left arm and shoulder from broken glass and that his girlfriend drove them to the hospital, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE of the Deville Automotive Repair Center, 3636 N. Harlem Ave., reported that someone threatened her with a gun at about 9:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that he drove by the business and saw two men inside the closed gate holding flashlights and looking under vehicles, according to police. The man said that he called his mother, who works at the business, and that as she approached a vehicle that was parked to take a picture, a passenger displayed a handgun and the vehicle fled, police said.

A MAN AND A woman were arrested following a reported attack and robbery at about 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in the 6200 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 21-year-old man reported that as he and a friend left a store, two men and a woman got out of a vehicle and one of the men struck him on the back with a crowbar, the woman scratched his neck, and someone took his cell phone, according to police. The man said that the second man took the crowbar from the attacker and they fled, police said.
Officers found the suspects in the vehicle based on the description that was provided and discovered the attacked man’s cell phone, bags containing a substance suspected of being marijuana and a bag containing a substance suspected of being cocaine, according to police. The woman, who the man said is his former girlfriend, was charged with drug possession, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Justin J. Spencer, age 21, of the 8200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, and Edyta V. Szul, age 20, of the 4000 block of North Melvina Avenue. The second man was not charged, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he and his wife were attacked at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, as they were driving in the 4400 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man and the 21-year-old woman reported that a Jeep drove up next to them and the driver threw a glass bottle that struck the woman in the right side of her face and shattered in the car, according to police. The man reported that the man told him to come out of the car and that when he did the man fled, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at a building in the 5100 block of North Long Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 67-year-old man reported that he was changing the locks on a door of an apartment where a man had been evicted and that the man came and punched him in the face several times and struck him with a hammer, according to police. The man was treated at Lutheran General Hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:50 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the 5600 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 38-year-old man reported that two men attacked him with baseball bats and he lost consciousness and that when he woke up his wallet containing credit cards was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his daughter’s home in the 5300 block of North Laramie Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, and 6 p.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a neighbor called him and told him that his daughter’s home had been broken into and he discovered that the basement window was broken and that $1,000 was missing, according to police.

A COUPLE reported that their home in the 5700 block of West Wilson Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The residents reported that when they returned home they discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that jewelry, a humidor containing cigars and $5,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at her home in the 3700 block of North Pontiac Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 85-year-old woman reported that she saw a man in her yard and the man told her that he discovered that her roof was leaking and asked if he could have a bucket of hot water, according to police. The woman reported that she went with the man downstairs to get a bucket and that the man suddenly left and she later discovered that $300 was missing, police said.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5300 block of West Windsor Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, and 12:30 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that four laptop computers valued at $2,000, a cell phone, $130 in cash, a purse and a wallet were missing, according to police.
