Local Crime from 17th District 10-8-2016
A MAN WAS shot at about 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers on patrol heard a gunshot and saw vehicle speeding on Kedzie, and a man had called and reported that a driver shot him from a dark vehicle, according to police. Officers pursued the car but lost it, and the man who was shot had left the scene, police said.
A TEENAGER was arrested after he allegedly attacked a Schurz High School student in an apparent gang-related incident at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the 3500 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teen reported that as he was walking with his girlfriend, a car containing six occupants stopped and they shouted gang slogans, according to police. The teen said that two teenagers got out of the vehicle and one of them swung a baseball bat at him and struck him in the face with what he thought were brass knuckles and the other punched him in the face and body, police said.
The youth reported that he recognized one of the assailants, and the suspect, who was identified by police as a 14-year-old male, was arrested at home the following day, police said.
TWO TEENAGERS were arrested after they allegedly attacked a Schurz High School student at about 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the 3400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 17-year-old teen reported that as he was walking with his girlfriend, he got into an argument with three teenagers, two of whom attend Schurz, according to police. The teenager said that one of the three punched him in the face, a second one cut him on the right eyelid with a box cutter and the third threatened him displayed a handgun in his waistband, police said.
The suspects, who were identified by police as 17-year-old males, were arrested at school the following day, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the 5900 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old woman reported that as she was sitting in her parked car, a man placed a gun to her head and took her wallet containing $100 and broke her cell phone on the ground, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man fired a gun at his car at about 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3 in the 3100 block of West Argyle Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 41-year-old man reported that as he was driving his children to school, a man on a mountain bike wearing a hooded sweatshirt fired a gun at his car as he drove by, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at the McDonald’s restaurant, 3615 W. Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 83-year-old man reported that as he was sitting with a 68-year-old woman, a man walked by several times, took his cell phone and shoved him out of his seat, according to police.
A MAN WAS stabbed at about 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, in the 3600 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man’s girlfriend reported that as they were picking up food from a restaurant, a man and a woman displayed gang signs and the man stabbed her boyfriend in the hand, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, in the 5100 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 18-year-old woman reported that two men grabbed her, pushed her against a fence and took her cell phone, according to police. The woman said that when she fought back, one of the men knocked her to the ground and took her wallet containing credit cards, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4300 block of North Tripp Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, and 4 p.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a front window was broken and that a laptop computer was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3400 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue was burglarized at about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a jewelry box containing rings was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4600 block of West Addison Street was burglarized between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was open and that a jar containing coins worth $50 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two men and a woman broken into his home in the 3900 block of North Central Park Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that he hear a noise downstairs and discovered that three people had entered the home through a window and that they took a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money, according to police. The man said that he hid from the intruders until they left the house, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Christiana Avenue was burglarized between 6:15 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a front window was open and that a Play Station 4 video game console valued at $399, a bicycle valued at $468, shoes valued at $150 and two laptop computers valued at $1,400 were missing, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN reported that her purse was stolen at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The 43-year-old woman reported that she set her purse containing $80 and several credit cards and a shopping bag containing an Android tablet valued at $170 on a chair near an escalator and left the items unattended for a short time and then discovered the items were missing, according to police.
A MAN WAS charged with criminal trespass following his arrest at about 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer arrested a man whom he recognized as having been banned from the mall, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Ninos G. Shabandar, age 26, of the 2900 block of West Peterson Avenue.
A MAN WAS charged with possession of cannabis following his arrest at about 8:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, near Lavergne and Farwell avenues in Skokie, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle that was being driven with its headlights off, and the driver was arrested after the officer smelled the odor of marijuana and discovered a plastic bag containing approximately 4.2 grams of marijuana, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Tai T. Le, age 23, of the 5000 block of West Lunt Avenue, Skokie.
A WOMAN reported that her car was burglarized between 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, and 7:45 a.m. the following day while it was parked in the 6600 block of North Kostner Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that she discovered that a dashboard digital videodisc player valued at $300 and a pair of prescription sunglasses valued at $300 were missing from the unlocked vehicle, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was burglarized between 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, and the following day while it was parked in the 6700 block of North Drake Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he discovered that a container containing coins valued at approximately $100 was missing from the console of the car, according to police.
