Local Crime from 17th District 9-17-2016
TWO MEN WERE shot at about 10:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the 3300 block of West Addison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Responding officers discovered a 25-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the side of the head and a 29-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the right hand, according to police. The men were treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
Witnesses reported that the men who were shot were in a car being driven through the intersection and that another car struck a van and someone in that car fired several shots at the van, according to police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man fired a gun at his car at about midnight Saturday, Sept. 10, as he was driving in an alley in the 3200 block of West Warner Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old man reported that he saw a man get out of a car run and fire a gun at his car, with a bullet striking the rear of the car, according to police.
TWO WOMEN reported that a man fired a gun at their car at about 11:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, as they were driving in the 3100 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The women, age 23 and 20, reported that two men in a BMW displayed gang signs and shouted gang slogans and that one of them fired a gun at their car, with a bullet striking the rear of the vehicle, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two men attempted to rob him at about 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, in the garage of his home in the 3200 block of North Keating Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man reported that two men knocked and asked if he could look at their car that was parked on Cornelia Avenue, and that as he was walking toward Cornelia, one of the men demanded money and he punched the man in the face and the other man displayed a handgun but that he fled to the garage, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the 3700 block of West Agatite Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 18-year-old man reported that when he met a man to sell him two pairs of jeans the man displayed a handgun at him, took the jeans valued at $300 and drove away, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 5610 N. Kimball Ave., was robbed at about 3 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun and took $150 from the cash register, $10 from him and 10 packs of cigarettes, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that three men broke into her home in the 4500 block of North Christiana Avenue and robbed her at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old woman reported that she woke up and heard three men break into her home through a window and that one man entered her bedroom and took her cell phone, credit cards her car keys and they drove away in her 2008 Mazda 3, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that three men broke into their home in the 3200 block of West Leland Avenue at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man and the 34-year-old woman reported that three men entered the home through the unlocked rear door with clothing wrapped around their faces, displayed handguns and took a purse, credit cards, two cell phones, two passports, two tablets, three laptop computers, a video game console and $375 in cash, according to police.
A WOMAN and a man were arrested in connection with the robbery of a delivery driver at about 6:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the 3500 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 30-year-old man reported that he saw a woman standing in front of the building that he delivering a pizza to and that when he approached the woman three men walked from around the corner, punched him in the face and the body and took his wallet containing $40 and his driver’s license, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said. Officers later arrested the suspects based on the description that was provided, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Chanel Weatherspoon, age 21, of the 4400 block of North Kimball Avenue, and Javon Walker, age 22, of the 7300 block of North Winchester Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was the victim of a scam at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at his home in the 5100 block of North Kolmar Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 70-year-old man reported that a man asked him to discuss brick work at his home and was able to distract him, and that two other men entered his home and told his 70-year-old wife and a 10-year-old boy to leave the home for a few minutes, according to police. The man said that they later discovered that diamond rings, silver rings, gold and silver bracelets and $1,000 in cash were missing, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4100 block of North Kilbourn Avenue was burglarized between 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, and 5 p.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that lawn furniture valued at $700 was missing from the back yard, according to police.
THE WOMAN reported that her home in the 4900 block of North Albany Avenue was burglarized between 1:45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home he discovered that $7,000 in cash was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4400 block of North Spaulding Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was open and that four bracelets and three necklaces valued at $2,400 and a television antenna valued at $40 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED on Sept. 8 that his home in the 4900 block of North Drake Avenue was burglarized between Aug. 28 and Aug. 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that nine bars of gold valued at $20,000 and $7,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4700 block of North Sawyer Avenue was burglarized between 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, and 12:30 p.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a side window was open and that jewelry valued at $10,000, 2,500 Mexican pesos and $7,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD
TWO MEN reported that their lockers at Planet Fitness, 6850 N. McCormick Blvd., were broken into between 11:10 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, according to Lincolnwood police.
A man reported that when he discovered that his Samsung Galaxy S5 phone valued at $400 and his wallet containing his driver’s license and $30 in cash were missing from his backpack, and another man reported that his driver’s license, credit and debit cards and his wallet containing $90 were missing from his locker, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a painter working on his home in the 6400 block of North Kenton Avenue accidentally set a section of his bushes on fire with a cigarette butt at about 3:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that after the painter discarded a cigarette butt under a bush, and the bush caught fire and melted a section of the ground sprinkler line, according to police. The Lincolnwood Fire Department extinguished the fire and also removed a section of aluminum siding from the roof overhang to ensure that the fire did not spread under the roofing, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his bicycle was stolen from outside the Lowe’s store, 3601 W. Touhy Ave., between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he locked his Motiv Smoothie bicycle valued at $400 to $500 to a bicycle rack in front of the store and that when he returned the bicycle and the lock were missing, according to police.
