A man was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle twice and then run over at about 1:10 a.m. Monday, July 22, in the 5200 block of North Loring Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police. A witness reported that he heard screaming and saw a man running south on Loring, and that a silver Volkswagen Jetta or Golf struck the man, according to police. The witness said that as the man was getting up, the car returned and struck him again and then ran over him, police said. The man, who was described as in his 20s, was reported to be in critical condition at Lutheran General Hospital.
The driver of the car was described as white/Hispanic and age 23 to 27.
AN EMPLOYEE was seriously injured by a man who he reported hit him with a hammer during a robbery at Lis Food and Liquor, 5316 W. Lawrence Ave., that occurred at about 1:35 a.m. Monday, July 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 49-year-old employee reported that a man asked to buy candy, and that when he opened the cash register, the man struck him on the head with the sharp end of a hammer and took an unknown amount of money, according to police. The man was admitted to Resurrection Hospital in critical condition with a skull fracture, police said.
THE OWNER of the Cemirex store, 5508 W. Belmont Ave., reported that a man attacked him with a baseball bat at about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 51-year-old man reported that a man entered the store and asked him if he had any triple extra large size tank tops and that when he said no, the man struck him on the head and body with a baseball bat, according to police. The store owner was treated at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, police said.
The assailant was described as black, age 23 to 30, 5-8 to 6-0 and 200 to 249 pounds, and wearing a red bandanna and a white tank top shirt and blue shorts.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday, July 21, in the 5800 block of North Cumberland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that as he was walking to the CTA Cumberland Blue Line station, a man armed with a knife attempted to stab him in the back and then took his backpack containing his cell phone and his wallet containing $200, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 24, 5-6 to 5-9 and 140 to 150 pounds, and wearing a black T-shirt and camouflage shorts.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1 a.m. Friday, July 19, in the 6100 block of West Gunnison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that a man asked him for a cigarette and that when he gave it to him, a second man punched him and knocked him to the ground and that the two took his wallet containing $60, according to police.
One of the men was described as white, age 30 to 40, 6-1 and 175 pounds. The other man was described as age 30 to 40, 6-0 and 175 pounds.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at a home in the 5000 block of West Pensacola Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported that a man began talking to him as he prepared to power wash a garage, according to police. The man said that the man followed him when he went to the basement to hook up a hose, then displayed a gun and demanded money, police said. He said that the man fled after he told him that he did not have any money, police said.
The man was described as black, age 22 to 27, 6-0 and 175 pounds, and wearing a white T-shirt, baggy jeans and a skullcap.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, in the 6200 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 73-year-old man reported that a man pointed a gun at him and demanded his belongings and then fled when he saw a person in a window, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 18 to 19, 5-11 to 6-0 and 160 to 180 pounds, and wearing a white bandanna.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, 4350 N. Central Ave., was robbed at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, July 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police. The 20-year-old woman reported that a man pointed a knife to her throat, pushed her into a freezer and took $300 from the cash register, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 25 and 5-6 to 5-8.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, in the 3500 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 44-year-old man reported that three men attacked him, knocked him to the ground and took his cell phone, his house keys and his shoes, according to police. The man said that the men tried to take off his pants but that they fled when they could not, police said.
