Stabbing reported at Saint Patrick High School

A Saint Patrick High School student was questioned after he allegedly stabbed another student at about 8:40 a.m. Friday, May 17, at the school, 5900 W. Belmont Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The student stabbed another student in a bathroom on the second floor of the school during an altercation stemming from a previous incident, according to police. The teenager was stabbed in the shoulder and suffered lacerations to the arm and was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 16-year-old male.
The school released the following statement:
“Earlier today at Saint Patrick High School, an isolated incident took place involving two students. School officials responded quickly to the incident, the police were notified and the situation was handled appropriately.
“Administration is working closely with police officials to conduct a thorough investigation and will continue to do so to maintain a safe, secure learning environment for our students…We appreciate the efforts of all those involved who responded swiftly to today’s incident.
“Further information will be released as necessary. Faculty, staff and counselors will remain available for any students who need them.”
