16 Candles, Journey & Pearl Jam tributes headline Jeff Fest
Sixteen Candles along with Led Zeppelin, Journey, The Who and Pearl Jam tribute bands will headline the 16th annual “Jeff Fest” arts and music festival the weekend of July 29-31 at Jefferson Park, 4822 N. Long Ave.
The festival, which is sponsored by the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, July 29, and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31.
The event will include a kids’ zone with inflatables, pony rides (nominal fee) and other activities on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and a community stage featuring local bands and dance companies. A family “drum circle” also is planned.
In addition, a wine tasting from Southern Wine and Spirits will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The cost is $20, which includes one-day festival admission and 15 wine tastings, and tickets can be purchased in advance at www.chicagoevents.com.
The Chicago Creative Coalition will present its fourth annual “PhotoArt”
fine art photography contest, including a new student division, on Saturday and Sunday. Fest-goers will be able to vote for their favorite entries.
The main stage features rock tribute bands 97Nine at 6 p.m. and 16 Candles (1980s tribute) at 8:30 p.m. Friday; the Gingers at 2 p.m., The Who’s Who at 4 p.m., Pearl Jam Chicago at 6 p.m. and the 70s Classic Rock Show at 8 p.m. Saturday; and the Little Egypt Band at 2 p.m., Fletcher Rockwell at 3:30 p.m., Led Zeppelin tribute band Kashmir at 6 p.m. and Journey Unauthorized at 8:15 p.m. Sunday.
The community stage will include the Charlie Hustle Band, Buy the Stars, The Ferns, Simply Sound, The etc. Choir and Butterfly in Traffic.
Admission to the festival is $5 per day. Children age 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult and seniors age 65 and older will be admitted at no charge.
