Area man fatally shot

A man was fatally shot at about 10:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, in the 4300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The 19-year-old man reported that he was a passenger in a car belonging to an acquaintance and that the acquaintance shot him, according to police. The man reported that he got out of the vehicle and walked to the 5000 block of West Cullom Avenue where he was staying and that his friends called police, police said.

The man, who was shot in the stomach and the arm, died of his wounds at Illinois Masonic Hospital the following day, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was identified by the examiner’s office as Alex Anderson, of the 5000 block of Cullom.
The victim told police that he was shot by a man known as "Trey," police said.
