Attempted armed carjacking at Whole Foods in Sauganash reported

An attempted armed carjacking was reported in Sauganash on Sunday, Nov. 4, while earlier in the day a man reported having his vehicle stolen at gunpoint in Jefferson Park, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A woman reported that at about 8:10 p.m. a man pointed a gun at her and demanded that she get out of her car during an incident in the parking lot at Whole Foods, 6020 N. Cicero Ave., according to police. The woman had just finished putting groceries in her car, police said.
The woman told officers that she asked the gunman if she could grab some of her things and that he unsuccessfully tried pulling her out of her car, police said. The assailant then jumped into the backseat of another vehicle, which drove away, police said.
Meanwhile, a vehicular hijacking was reported at about 6:45 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Ainslie Street, police said.
A man reported that another man who owed him money flagged him down and that after he stopped his vehicle, the other man entered his vehicle and displayed a handgun, police said. The man reported that he drove for a short time until he was ordered to exit the car near Lawrence and Lamon avenues and that the other man then drove away with the vehicle, police said.
No arrests have been reported in either incident.
