A dead body was found floating in the North Branch of the Chicago River next to the Old Edgebrook neighborhood at about 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A landscaper working in the area reported finding the body, which was not identified as of Thursday afternoon, according to police. The Cook County Sheriff’s office and Forest Preserve Police District will be conducting an investigation.
The body reportedly snagged onto a log, preventing it from floating any further. The body was found just off McClellan Avenue.
Old Edgebrook is a 55-home subdivision located just west of Central Avenue and surrounded by forest preserves.
