Chicago Golf Lounge opens at 5217 W. Lawrence on the NW Side, offering state-of-the-art simulators

A local Edgebrook family was looking to start a business, and they turned to one of their favorite pastimes: Golf.
“Our kids love it,” Chicago Golf Lounge co-owner Julian Cagadas said the newly opened business at 5217 W. Lawrence Ave. It’s on the first floor of a four-story building, whose parking lot is located at the southeast corner of Lawrence and Laramie avenues.
The indoor golf simulator studio caters to serious and recreational golfers, and even young family members can get interested in golf via the fun virtual kid activities in which children can learn to swing a golf club, said Cagadas, a military veteran and former police officer who is now an attorney.
“We looked at many, many places,”co-owner Kristen Cagadas, a social worker, said of the Jefferson Park location which they settled on. “We needed a high ceiling” to accommodate a golf swing and the ball.
The projected flight of the ball is recorded by the TrackMan simulator before it falls to the ground after hitting the padded walls. TrackMan is widely considered a leader in the industry and used by many professional golfers due to its state-of-the art technology.
The lounge features three separate simulator areas, and each can accommodate up to a foursome, who can virtually play some of the top golf courses in the world, including Pebble Beach and Saint Andrews. A foursome could complete an 18-hole round in around 90 to 105 minutes, according to Julian.
Some golfers will set their phone up on a stand and record their swings, and then, via AI technology on their golf app, get a critique of their performance. Others may prefer a human coach to take a look at their recordings and assess their swings.
Memberships start at $159 a month and include four hours of simulator time, with discounts on additional hours and other benefits. In addition, leagues and tournaments are in the works, and “family nights” may be offered.
Those interested in joining can contact the lounge via a form at www.chicagogolflounge.com or can call 312-684-0382 or send an e-mail message to info@chicagogolflounge.com
Once signed up, members are given a key fob to enter the building and will receive a code to activate the golf simulator during their reserved time. Available hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce and Alderman James Gardiner (45th) are planning to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new business at 2 p.m. Friday, June 5. Refreshments will be served.
