Designer boutique opens in Jefferson Park

by BRIAN NADIG
A new European designer boutique in Jefferson Park offers dresses which cannot be found anywhere else in the U.S., according to the shop’s owner Kamilla Tymchyshyn.
Love My Lucky Dress, 4962 N. Milwaukee Ave., opened on Sept. 1, and plans calls for a formal grand opening this fall. The boutique is the first clothing store to open near the Milwaukee-Lawrence commercial district in several years.
While the store’s European clothing line is “very exclusive,” the prices start around $100 and average about $180, significantly lower than the thousands of dollars which can be charged for brands like Gucci and Channel, according to Tymchyshyn, a Jefferson Park resident.
“Here all the money goes into the fabric, (not the name),” Tymchyshyn said. She added that those making the shop’s dresses work in proper conditions, with no child labor, and that the fabrics used in the store’s dresses and blouses come from European countries such as Italy and France.
With a college degree in financing, Tymchyshyn used to work at a Downtown Chicago office, and in her search for stylish business clothing, she was drawn to a designer clothing line when she was visiting Russia.
She later began showcasing European dresses at charity fashion shows, and eventually friends urged her to open her own business. “Every designer dreams to have their dresses sold in the U.S.,” Tymchyshyn said.
Helping customers find that “lucky dress” will be one of the keys to the store’s success, Tymchyshyn said. “You feel confident, beautiful. Your life goes in a more positive way,” she said.
Additional information, including store hours, is available on the Love My Lucky Dress Facebook page or by calling the store at 773-759-7773.
