Firefighters respond to fire at Harry’s Lumber Yard
Firefighters responded to a 2-11 alarm fire at Harry’s Lumber yard, 6220 N. Northwest Hwy., at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, according to the Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs.
The fire was extinguished at about 5:25 a.m., but the flames rekindled at about 7 a.m. as crews were cleaning up, according to the department. Metra trains on the Union Pacific Northwest Line were stopped because equipment had to be used on both sides of the tracks, the department said.
The department said that an even larger fire destroyed a wooden structure on the site at on Oct. 19, 1990.
