Garage burglaries reporter
The Chicago Police Department Bureau of Detectives Area North has issued a community alert regarding garage burglaries in the 16th (Jefferson Park) Police District since April 11.
Garage burglaries were reported between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, and 8:40 a.m. the following day, in the 5200 block of West Warner Avenue, between 2:30 pm. Sunday, April 22, and 7 a.m. the following day in the 5500 block of North Austin Avenue and between 10 p.m. Sunday, April 22, and 8:15 a.m. the following day, in the 5500 block of North Austin Avenue.
Also, between 11 p.m. Thursday, April 26, and 5:20 a.m. the following day, in the 4100 block of North Mango Avenue, between 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, and 6 a.m. the following day, in the 4300 block of North Monitor Avenue, and between 10:15 p.m. Saturday, May 6, and 8:30 a.m. the following day, in the 5000 block of North Meade Avenue.
In these incidents, unknown offender(s) gain entry by forcibly kicking or prying open the overhead or side door and also entering through unlocked doors. The offender(s) then take construction tools, bicycles, aluminum ladders, and snowblowers, according to police.
