Gunfire hits two homes in Edison Park

Gunfire which damaged two homes was reported to have occurred between 9:20 and 11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, in the 6800 block of North Overhill Avenue and the 6800 block of North Oriole Avenue in Edison Park on Chicago’s Northwest Side, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A homeowner on Oriole reported that he heard a loud bang and then found a bullet hole in a bedroom wall, according to police.
The homeowner also reported that a family member was in the bedroom at the time of the incident but that no one was injured, police said.
An evidence technician was requested to come to the home, police said.
Officers also reported that while canvassing the area they saw a bullet hole in a door of a home on Overhill and that a shell casing was recovered in nearby bushes, police said.
Surveillance footage from the area was being collected from homeowners in the neighborhood and being reviewed as part of the investigation, police said.
The gunfire may have been random and not directed toward a specific person or property, but the incidents remain under investigation, and no arrests have been reported, according to police.
