Local Crime from 16th District 1-14-15
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him with a beer bottle at about 3 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, as he was walking in the 7100 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that the man approached him, struck him on the head with the bottle and fled, according to police. The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, police said.
FOUR TEENAGERS were arrested after a gun was found in their car at about 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in the 3600 block of North Melvina Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An officer saw a car with four occupants blocking a crosswalk and asked the driver for his license, according to police. The driver said that he is 14 years old, and the officer smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle and saw a .45 caliber handgun with three live rounds in the back seat, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as a 14-year-old male, a 15-year-old male, a 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old female.
A MAN REPORTED that his girlfriend stabbed him at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at a home in the 4800 block of West Dakin Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 43-year-old man reported that during an argument with his girlfriend the woman stabbed him with a knife in the upper arm and leg, according to police. The man was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his wife stabbed him at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at a home in the 4800 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 52-year-old man reported that during an argument the woman stabbed him in the neck with a knife, according to police. The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that two men broke into his neighbor’s home in the 6000 block of North Harlem Avenue at about 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a car pulled into his neighbor’s driveway and two men got out and walked to the rear of the home, according to police. The owner of the home reported that he discovered that the rear door had been forced open but that nothing appeared to be missing, police said.
A HOME IN the 5500 block of West Addison Street was burglarized at about 11:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a burglary alarm discovered that the front door was open, according to police. The residents of the home reported that a safe containing documents, rings, earrings, two gold necklaces, a gold cross and a bracelet was missing, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5300 block of North Luna Avenue was burglarized between 9 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the back door had been forced open and that $2,500 to $3,500 worth of jewelry was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4900 block of West Grace Street was burglarized between 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, and 1 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that an iPad valued at $500, two watches valued at $200 and two piggybanks containing $200 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5800 block of North Austin Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, and 7:30 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he woke up in the morning he discovered that the back porch door had been broken and that two television sets valued at $1,300, 14,000 pesos, a snow blower valued at $500 and $2,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that a work van containing tools was stolen between midnight and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, while it was parked in the garage of his home in the 5800 block of West Patterson Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the garage door was open and that his 2003 Ford van containing $4,265 worth of tools and construction materials was missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their home in the 5600 block of North Mango Avenue was burglarized between Dec. 26 and Jan. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the back door had been broken in and that jewelry valued at $3,500 and tools valued at $1,000 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4200 block of North Major Avenue was burglarized between Dec. 24 and Jan. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been broken in and that $750 in cash, a bottle of wine valued at $30 and a bottle of whiskey valued at $40 were missing, according to police.

The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the back door had been broken in and that jewelry valued at $1,850 and $140 in cash were missing, according to police.

The man reported that he discovered that the side door of the garage had been broken in and that tools valued at $150, a bicycle valued at $200, an air compressor valued at $300, an electric welder valued at $400 and a welding torch valued at $600 were missing, according to police.
